Modern, Romantic Palm Springs Wedding: Jenny + Dina

parker palm springs wedding

I’m pretty much head over heels with today’s gorgeous desert wedding, held at the iconic + beautiful Parker Palm Springs Hotel! The Parker is a wildly magical backdrop for a wedding; an oasis-like retreat landscaped by lush desert foliage + giant palm trees and filled with Jonathan Adler mid century modern decor – perfect for Jenny + Dina since they both have a deep appreciation for design + nature. From the intimate feel of their circular ceremony, to the colorful, modern tablescape details, not only is there a lot to be inspired by, but it’s evident there was so much meaning behind each decision this couple made. More about their story from Jenny:

From what I look like you’d think that I was planning my wedding since birth. I’m a girly girl who loves fashion, gushy love stories and lives in a state of hopeless romanticism. I truthfully never fantasized about getting married though – that is until I met someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. As a gay woman when my peers were moving into the marriage phase, I resolved that this was not an option for me – especially since it literally was (at the time) illegal. But the more I fell in love followed by the changing marriage laws in NY State, suddenly this not-so-important life experience became everything. Dina wasn’t so quick to the alter either. In our early years of dating she declared that marriage was off the table. But as the tides slowly shifted, she agreed to look inward and figure out exactly what her hold up was. We both did a lot of soul searching before deciding to move forward. We needed to have a deeper understanding of what this commitment meant and not just get married because it’s socially prescribed. So alas…we reached our conclusion and for us it held more meaning due to the journey we went on to get there.

Thank you so much to Sarah Yates of Birds of a Feather for the incredibly gorgeous images and congratulations to Jenny + Dina!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The ceremony was my most favorite - I never walked down the aisle, I must have floated. Moving into Dina's arms felt like locking in a final puzzle piece and vowing my commitment to her were the most important words to ever leave my lips. There was not a cloud in the open blue sky, the mountains landscaped behind us, we were hand in hand surrounded by everything that truly mattered - it was pure beauty.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Dina and I were able to create an experience that made sense for us. If I were to pass along any nuggets of wisdom to fellow brides it would be to stay true to yourself when preparing this next step. Relationships are not a one size fits all and nor should the wedding be. Celebrate and express your uniqueness and individuality so that this moment becomes a testament to who you both are and imprint on your soul forever.
