Modern Loft Wedding in Downtown Los Angeles: Andrea + Cory

Modern Loft DTLA Wedding

Andrea + Cory’s modern, stylish wedding at Hudson Loft in Downtown Los Angeles is the perfect example of an indoor city wedding done totally right! With Janelle Wylie of Lavenders Flowers behind both the florals + event design, A + C were in good hands right from the get-go, and the scene Janelle dreamt up and created is almost too good to be true!

Janelle tells us a bit about her design process for this wedding, The venue is a blank slate, which can be overwhelming for some. I took it as a time to be very intentional about where we spend the energy and budget designing. The ceremony space doubled as a reception location which let me put a TON of energy into creating something special there. WE BUILT TREES in the venue, something I dreamed up and was proud to actually create, thanks to my awesome team! Jaws hit the floor as guests arrived into the ceremony site. After set up, I was able to stay and enjoy the space as a guest…the rest of the night I had people coming up to me asking me, “how did you do that?” It felt good to make deign magic happen for such awesome humans. They deserve the best and that’s what they got!

With a settings so lovely, having the right photographer to capture it all is a must, and Westlund Photography definitely did not disappoint!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The first look was the most memorable moment because it gave us an opportunity to just enjoy each other before the festivities began. It was an intimate time to reflect that we were becoming family.

On the reception space, Janelle shares, The table top design was runner up behind the ceremony space for my favorite design detail. The tables were hair-pin wood farm tables, with hand-dyed slate grey silk runners, accented with monochromatic textual white blooms. I wanted the centerpieces to have a far all like feel but have a more refined look. We did 2 different designs for their reception tables, both I loved for different reasons. We accented with marble pillared candles, skinny black tapered candles, and white ceramic votives. I loves the gold wear as a clean and modems detail. Their friend, Susan Wang of Hunter and Oak, custom made the paper goods in collaboration with the design elements I had chosen. They ended up with marble menus at the table!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

A coordinator is necessary for your day to run smoothly, Meghan was amazing and we are so thankful for all the time and effort she put into our wedding. Also make sure you hire an amazing photographer and videographer. The day goes by so fast and becomes a blur so having those memories documented is important. We were lucky to have both!
