Mid-Century Palm Springs Wedding: Shana + Rob

Frank Sinatra Estate Wedding

Shana + Rob’s gorgeous Palm Springs estate wedding was a family (and friend) affair in every sense of the term. It was a wedding filled with everyone they love pitching in + making things happen – and, guys, they just so happen to have some pret-ty cool friends! Shana’s amaze wedding dress was custom designed by her pal Janie Bryant, who was the costume designer for one of our all time fave shows: Mad Men! Ari from Advanced Style walked Shana’s mom down the aisle. Moreover, friends helped arrange the flowers, assemble decorations and so much more. Since we’ve gotten some of the backstory, let’s hear a little bit about the inspiration. Then it’s onto what we know you’re really here for: the gorgeous photos by Katie Pritchard!

Our main goal for the wedding was to enjoy it and make sure that all of our friends and family had a great time! We appreciate anything vintage inspired so Palm Springs was our first choice plus it is a staple getaway for us as a couple. We both knew when we walked into the Sinatra Estate it was the place for us to be married, the perfect blend of glam meets kitsch. We could transport our guests back in time and it would be a fun experience just to be in this historic setting.

More about that amazing dress: Another incredible experience was having one of my other best friends Janie Bryant who is the costume designer of Mad Men design my dress. Every fitting was so fun and emotional, to have someone so close to you helping with such a huge moment in life was unforgettable. She sent me a sketch of her first design and that was literally it, my dream gown and cape were born! Janie also helped Rob with his tux at Brooks Brothers, we felt like the best dressed and luckiest couple in the world to be in Janie’s hands!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The most memorable moment of the day for us both was seeing each other for the first time before the wedding started. Having that time alone before the ceremony was one of the most beautiful moments that will be frozen in time for us both. We were able to look at each other and share the excitement of all we had accomplished together to make the day possible.

Not only have I been working with designer Corey Lynn Calter (who’s worked with Anthropologie and Modcloth to name a few) for over 10 years she is also like family to us. Rob and I both agreed there could be nobody better suited to marry us than her. Having someone who loves us and knows both of us so well to perform the ceremony was so special and not to mention she looked gorgeous in her Valentino “priest like” dress!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Yes, have fun and enjoy it! It is going to be stressful no matter what but you will never get this time back so make it a bonding experience. Also know your strengths. Rob was great at handling logistical things like the budget, booking valet, dealing with the rental company, etc. He also is a major foodie and had a great time choosing appetizers and the dinner menu, it was adorable seeing how much pride he took in it! I had a very definitive idea about aesthetic so Rob was more than happy to let me take the reigns on design, invites, flowers, table settings, etc. It was fun running ideas by each other and splitting up duties and teaming up for the important decisions that needed to be dealt with together.
