Have you ever dreamed of getting married or honeymooning in Italy? Well, I’m sharing two stunning options for either your destination wedding or an ultra romantic honeymoon. Both of these iconic hotels are members of the Orient-Express Collection.
First, the Villa San Michele in Florence, Italy. We spent a week in Florence last year and just loved the entire Tuscany region. Florence is one of the most beautiful parts of Italy and the Villa San Michele is a stunning venue that takes full advantage of the gorgeous country that surrounds it.
The Villa is an historic property that actually got its start as a 15th century monastery. Today, couples can marry in a nearby church or al fresco in the formal gardens amid lemon and orange trees. Afterward, they can indulge in plenty of prosecco on the colonnaded loggia before retiring to the elegant Michelangelo suite.
Villa San Michele also makes a perfect honeymoon spot! Once on site, you can spend hours in the panoramic pool that overlooks Florence (personally, I can never get enough of a pool with a view :), take a class at their world famous Cookery School (and eat all of your great class projects!), or stroll through the extraordinary gardens which are steeped in history – dating from the 15th century when they were nurtured by Franciscan monks! The resort also features great restaurants, including the 16th-century Loggia Restaurant which offers exceptional views over Florence.
It looks pretty amazing right? You can see more from their weddings and suite offerings on their site – Villa San Michele.
Next up is Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Italy. Another romantic city and perfect for either a destination wedding, honeymoon or even an anniversary trip :)
For your wedding, whether you wish a religious wedding in a church, a civil ceremony in the Town Hall, or simply a blessing in the Casanova or Antique Gardens overlooking the tranquil lagoon, the Hotel Cipriani team of wedding experts will assist you with any requests you may have to tailor the event to your specific needs. If privacy is important to you, Hotel Cipriani can be hired for exclusive use with their Ultimate Take-Over. Imagine having the entire hotel all to yourself – where you can accommodate your guests and entertain them as if in your own private villa. Pretty amazing, right?!
Venice is also a pretty popular spot for honeymoons – in fact Jason and I went there for our honeymoon! :) Four minutes by private launch from San Marco, on the tip of Giudecca Island, the Hotel Cipriani commands unrivalled views of the lagoon and Doge’s Palace. Steeped in Venetian style, it is known for interiors decorated in exquisite local artefacts, classic cuisine with an innovative twist and the most fabulous swimming pool in the city.
Who else has major wanderlust now?! Learn lots more about these two fabulous hotels on their websites – Villa San Michele and Hotel Cipriani. And they are currently offering special group rates – Hotel Cipriani and Villa San Michele.
I’ve never left the country before, how sad is that? But I sure do have wanderlust and these photos make me want to visit Italy so bad!
Love, love, love this!!! I recently got back from a European trip and Florence was one of my favorite ever cities – it would be a dream to get married there!
We got married at Villa San Michele 3 years ago. It’s exactly as described! The external fresco was actually designed by Michelangelo!
Florence, the city of light and lightening… :) My plan is to visit this beautiful city after many years for my honeymoon in spring!
As a wedding photographer, I am really jealous of the places you are presenting!
