If you follow Green Wedding Shoes on Instagram, you know Jason + I were traveling around Europe last month scoping out some of the best honeymoon spots to share with you guys (wanna see more? search this hashtag #GWStravel on Instagram) Well, we are excited to share our trip with you guys over the next few weeks starting with the first stop on our European tour – Mallorca, Spain.
Mallorca is a tiny island in the Mediterranean that is just a 45 minutes flight from Barcelona, Spain. I love the idea of combining both Mallorca and Barcelona for your honeymoon – start in Mallorca where you can really relax after the craziness of the wedding, then add a few days in Barcelona for more culture and amazing food. A perfect combo. :)
We spent 4 days in the charming coastal and mountain village of Deià, Mallorca at the gorgeous La Residencia. The hotel is a 45 minute cab ride from the Palma airport. As soon as we landed in Mallorca, I was reminded of Tuscany. We fell in love with the buildings + towns we passed on our drive to Deià.
Above is the hillside town of Deià and below is the stunning Belmond La Residencia. There are views from every angle of this resort perfectly situated in the hills with gorge views of the ocean.
If you are looking for a gorgeous spot to totally relax, Mallorca is for you. Everywhere you look is pure beauty and that pool, I mean, right?!! Take me back stat!!
If you are looking for activities, the hotel offers art classes (Deià is known as an artist village and La Residencia has many artists working on their property), cooking classes, a donkey tour through the olive groves, Vespa excursions, beaches, and of course plenty of gorgeous spots to hike! I loved just exploring the small towns (lots of hills!) so that is a workout on it’s own :)
Breakfast is included in your room rate. We loved enjoying breakfast each day on the terrace with this amazing view…
La Residencia also has two amazing restaurants on property – fine dining at El Olivo and the more relaxed Café Miró Restaurant. As you may have guessed, both also have amazing views and some yummy food and of course Sangria!
The town of Deià is just a 10 minute walk from the property entrance. We enjoyed dinner and lunch there…so many pretty flowers everywhere you looked. Heaven for a flower fan such as myself. :)
We didn’t rent a car, but if you do there are 2 cute towns to explore that are each 20 minutes away. Port de Soller (which we visited for dinner one night and just loved) and the equally pretty town of Valldemossa. We didn’t have time to explore that town, but looked super cute and would recommend for dinner one night. It also was still a bit chilly when we were there, but the beaches in Mallorca in the Summer are supposed to be amaze!!
That view above? That was the view from our room! The hotel used to be an old manor home, I love that you can feel the history. They offer regular rooms along with suites that have their own pool – a perfect honeymoon splurge!
Truly would make for an amazing honeymoon spot or anniversary trip. Or just a great vacation with your family. The hotel is also very great for little ones as they offer cribs, kids menu, a kids club and more. Happy Wanderlust
