Denise + Dominic love camping, nature and the outdoors. In fact, when they first started dating they would randomly go camping (with just a few days notice) and every summer they make it a point to go camping to get away from the city. Camping reminds them both of when they were kids and their families would take them camping to enjoy each other + nature. Denise even says that it was on one of their very first camping trips that she knew her relationship with Dominic was going to be a lasting one! From Denise: I can still remember the both of us looking up at the sky from inside our tent amazed by all the stars and realizing this is who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
So, it’s no surprise that they wanted to bring the camping theme into their engagement photos. I love their cute tent, and the photos captured by Picotte Photography are simply beautiful. Congrats to Densie + Dominic – and don’t miss their sweet proposal story at the end!
And I just had to share their sweet proposal story that Denise shared with me! Congrats again you two and thanks to Picotte Photography for the gorgeous photos!
Dominic proposed to me on my birthday in 2010, which is August 24th. We had gone out to look at engagement rings a couple days before and he secretly went back to purchase the ring I had fell in love with. So I had somewhat of an idea that a proposal was coming but I had no clue as to how soon. Dominic was entering his final semester of college and he wanted to do something low key and not too expensive for my birthday celebration. He arranged to have almost all of our friends and family (some couldn’t make it) at a restaurant/bar that was down the street from our apartment. He told no one (except two of his friends) what he was planning and simply stressed to everyone else that they really did not want to miss that night. All was going really well, we ate dinner then stuck around for the rest of our party to arrive. As you may know we are really close to our friends and family so it was important to the both of us that these people who have witnessed our love grow be there to see this event. One of my girl friend’s and I went to have a intimate girl talk outside at the patio. We were having such a deep conversation I didn’t noticed everyone started coming out there too. He was the last one to come out and yelled my full name very loudly “Denise Jacinth Peckson” I immediately thought something was wrong and as I turned around he said “I have loved you from the day we met” he then got down on one knee and continued “Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you, Will you marry me?” Everyone around started cheering, I started crying and mumbled “Yes!!”
