Lighthearted English Barn Wedding: Emma + Mike

UK barn wedding

Emma + Mike’s lighthearted English barn wedding was bursting was creative, personal details and a fun, vintage-picnic vibe. Emma arrived at the old village hall in the couple’s new vintage camper, guests munched on Fish’n Chips from a food truck and because Mike’s last name is Bird, bird details were scattered throughout the design. Sounds like such a fun + heartfelt celebration! Here’s more from Emma about how they really made the day their own:

It was important to us that everything was our own choice, and that we didn’t feel pressured into conforming to any traditions which we didn’t feel were necessary. We didn’t feel like there were any boundaries to how things looked, or what we could do. The ceremony was written by our celebrant who wanted us to be very involved in the whole process. There was a lighthearted and relaxed approach to the ceremonywhich made it very personal to us.

Big thanks to Jess Petrie for the gorgeous photography + congratulations to Emma + Mike!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

There were a lot of memorable moments throughout the day, but seeing everyone having such a good time was something that both of us really enjoyed.

The weather was so perfect that their “busking band” (the Y Street Band) played outside. Somewhat of a rarity in York!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Try not to be influenced too much by other people's ideas of what should and shouldn't happen on the day, having a bit of structure is important, and some of the traditions help with that, but it's your day to do what you want.
