I absolutely love elopements – there is something so romantic about running away + getting married with just your honey by your side. So I’m thrilled to be able to share this intimate elopement from photographer Leo Patrone today. Laura + Colin are from London and traveled to California together a few years back. They instantly fell in love with the desert landscape + architecture of places like Palm Springs. When they decided to get married, they choose to elope to the gorgeous area of Joshua Tree on 10.10.10 at 10 am :)

From Laura, “Being huge fans of architect Albert Frey and 60s musician Gram Parsons, we dreamt of finding a house with modernist features in the surrounding open skies of Joshua Tree. One night we stumbled across a modernist building (Acido Dorado in Joshua Tree) dipped in gold in the middle of nowhere – we knew it was the one.”

The day was perfect – just us, two of our close friends and their 4 year old bridesmaid, Anouk! We had a special wedding of our favourite songs, dances in-the-sand and secret readings. It was great to enjoy every aspect of the day from the sunrise to sunset.

We have such gratitude to our photographer Leo Patrone who managed to capture every detail of the day from the huge desert bugs, to our bridesmaids secret moments. Leo also took some vivid day after shots with us at Salvation Mountain in Niland – another place we had always dreamt of visiting since design college – it was the icing on the wedding cake!
And the lovely Kat over at Rock N’ Roll Bride is sharing their day after photos so be sure to check those out also!

What a couple of cool cats. This is true Ecclectic. I love
the quilling and all the navajo inspiration on the certificate and
things! And the venue was definitely meant to be. What a truly
representational event of who these people are and who they’ll be
together. Thank you for this today especially.
Fun wedding, start to finish, and what a location! But what really captured me was that last shot on the bottom left–the infinite reflections in the table and ceiling mirrors. Wow! What a magnificent photographer to have been able to see the possibility of that shot, then capture it so beautifully. I’d love know a little bit about the lighting on that shot.
oh man, her feather capelet is WAY too cute! absolutely beautiful wedding, looks like they just had a day all about their personalities, which is perfect!
