There’s something about the juxtaposition of a beautiful celebration held within the walls of a stark + industrial warehouse that will probably get us every time. Throw in the perfect long-sleeved wedding dress, some stunning, stunning florals, and a sweet confetti recessional and you better believe we’re gonna be smitten. As you’ve probably guessed, we’re talking about Jen + Luke’s beautiful, laid-back nuptials at Carriageworks in Eveleigh, Australia. These two did things right, with a fun celebration that was more reminiscent of a Sunday afternoon barbecue than a formal affair. We’re fans of that mindset! Let’s hear from Jen regarding their inspiration for the day:
We wanted our day to reflect us as a couple and where we are at in life. We also wanted it to reflect the both of us and not be overly feminine. We were inspired by native flowers and gum leaves which we used from the invites through to marking our the aisle. Having similar taste made it really easy to decide about how most things would look.
Dan O’Day, thank you so much for the gorgeous photos and Jen + Luke, big time congrats!
Processional: First Day Of My Life – Bright Eyes (Performed live by a friend)
Recessional: All is Love – Karen O and The Kids
First Dance: L-O-V-E- – Nat King Cole
We’re totally digging Jen’s whole look! Her gorge long-sleeved gown is by Lover, which she paired with a sweet floral halo made by The Fragrant Bloom.
Jen: In between the ceremony and the reception we were able to sneak into an exhibition occurring at our venue at the time. The lights and the sounds of the installation kind of blocked out everything else and we had a really beautiful moment together just taking in the day and all that had happened
Luke: The few moments in the Ryoji Ikeda test pattern exhibition were awesome. We had the whole place to ourselves! We got this time together where nothing else mattered. It was real cool.
The reception decor was the perfect balance of romantic + simplistic, and featured a fun seating chart + menus designed by Luke!
Jen: Work out what to fight for and what to compromise on. If you're planning on a budget there will be lots of things you'll have to compromise on. But if you want your day to reflect you, there'll be plenty of things you'll have to fight for!! Make a decision early on about what's what.
Luke: It’s harder than I thought it would be. But it’s totally worth it!

What a stunning wedding in the most unexpected venue! Kudos to the Jen and Luke for such an original idea and Jen´s long sleeved wedding dress simply rocks! Beautiful!
The setting they chose to have their ceremony is so unexpected and everything looks so much more frail and beautiful because of this! Love it! http://madelienerose.com/

Something the couple didn’t mention was that everything was pretty much DIY. All the tables and spreads, invites, lighting etc. Crazy cats!
Loved the setting they chose. It;s always refreshing when couples pick a location that’s unexpected.
