The whole philosophy behind Jodi + Frankie’s was, “Go BIG or go home!” With many of their guests traveling from their home state of North Carolina to Los Angeles, California — J+F wanted to make sure they showcased their new home in the best way possible. With a vintage meets modern theme, along with an East Coast meets West Coast vibe, with a bit of 90s-era rap pizzazz, the day was a major party thanks to planner, One Darling Day.
Jodi shares The venue was the foundation of where we would paint our day. The colors, the spunk, the modern, the vintage qualities of the Fig House — it had all the elements of the style that we were wanting. We chose to have our ceremony outdoors; the garden area is perfect for a spring wedding + we loved the tree housed in the corner, which is where we said our vows.
Let’s take a peek into their LA day, captured by Fondly Forever!
The day of the wedding, the gals and I all met our photographer, Fondly Forever, at Ace Hotel in Downtown LA to capture our getting ready photos. We have some killer shots of the pink satin jackets adorned with “girl gang” — reminiscent of the Pink Ladies’ style. I wore an oversized jean jacket from Levi’s, my something blue.
Pops of peach + pink rounded out the sweet and cheery bouquet by Of the Flowers.
Jodi had her gals pick their own style of dress — midi or maxi, light blush, taupe, or champagne. And her sister/Maid of Honor rocked Jodi’s favorite: a floral print!
When it came to my dress, I went with the first one I tried on, with the label I had been eying since before getting engaged! It was a beautiful lace gown from Grace Loves Lace: a touch of romance, a touch of vintage, and the slightest bit of boho. I wanted a dress that was me, that I could move in & get my Beyoncé on later in the evening.
All the flowers + details of the day were made to complement the setting of The Fig House, not go against it. So colors were kept fun, but subtle, and using the tones available. Great idea on the bride’s part. :)
For the guys we had them choose their own tux in a light gray. We wanted everyone to be themselves + show their personality! (LOVE THIS!!) Frankie rocked a dark blue suit by Hugo Boss with shoes from Cole Haan.
The ceremony was meant to have a garden feeling— which fit perfectly, as it was outdoors. The arch came from Thrifted Sister Vintage + Felisa, from Of the Flowers, suggested adding a touch of florals — but not too much to take away from it’s natural beauty.
For the ceremony, I had a friend sing + her friend play the guitar. She crooned the beautiful, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley as everyone walked down the aisle. When it was my turn, she sang, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” — from my favorite movie… When Frankie + I got engaged, a stranger sang us that song on a ukulele over dinner!
Those smiles!!
How gorgeous are these backdrops?
Now the food and drinks were really important to me + Frankie as we are huge foodies. RoomForty & Pharmacie LA, the in house caterer & bar, did not disappoint. We did bride + groom cocktails, mine being a Bee’s Knees with gin, honey & lemon; his was a Whiskey Sour, with whiskey, sugar, and lemon. We wanted to keep things light and refreshing, since the party was going to be all night long!
Personalized napkins are such a fun touch, don’t you think? These darling ones were crafted by Noted Studio.
Our party favors were custom leather luggage tags, we wanted the element of “adventure” since we had so many people travel for our special day.
That room. That spread. Those tropical elements!!
“It was all a dream.” The custom neon lights featured Biggie lyrics as J+F grew up in the 90s and are big old school hip-hop fans.
Last, but certainly not least, take a look at this extravagant cake crafted by Au Fudge! Woah, right?!
What a spectacular event!! From the team at GWS, congrats Jodi + Frankie!
