Did you guys see this super creative Save the Date I posted last Saturday? Well, I know not everyone has the skills to create something like that themselves, so that is why I really am excited to share Floataway Studios with you guys! I love this new collaboration between Mary Frances, a photographer here in Los Angeles and her husband Scott, a videographer. They will not only offer photography and videography of your wedding day, but also will offer Save The Dates/Thank Yous as videos, offering a creative, eco-friendly way of giving your friends and family the best news ever.
Below is an example of a Thank You video a couple could send out to all their guests. For this sample video, Floataway Studios collaborated with Erin of This Lovely City on ideas and came up with their perfect version of a mountain top wedding.
and some photos from the day by Mary of Floataway Studios –
And here is an example of a Save the Date they created for a couple –
Thank you Mary + Scott for sharing your work with us. I really think video Save the Dates are going to be a big thing in 2010! Check out more of their work on their blog.
Thank you so much for this! I have been looking forever for a videographer that had this modern take on wedding films, I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS! :)
those videos are really cool, but you NEED to check out shade tree films. they will knock your socks off and make you wish you could get married all over again just to have them shoot your wedding.
love, love, love those photos. what a neat idea for Save the Dates.
So Great!!! I now have total wedding envy! Everything is gorgeous from save the dates to those photos!
I am confused. Is this that same cute couple that were married in a vineyard that One Love Photo shot this summer? I like the details here but is this a staged shoot? I prefer seeing real wedding photos and I am tired of seeing fake posed "wedding" photos. I loved their actual wedding photos better!
Wow, I didn't think anyone was doing any video "Save the Dates" or "Thank You's" yet….
I'm currently launching a Super 8 videography business in the Seattle Area and have been thinking that those two options would be a nice twist on the typical card…
Thank you, Mary and Scott, for some lovely samples of your work.
Pac NW folks, if you're interested in similar work for your wedding, keep your eyes peeled for Loveslide Films. Lots of special deals and price breaks for my 1st season of wedding work. :)
OMG!?!?! This totally is the same couple that One Love Photo did. I just saw their wedding featured in my new issue of Southern California Bride Magazine. So this must be a staged portrait session.
It looks like this photographer tried to copy One Love's style but missed the mark. These are nice and all, but seem to be lacking something. Their wedding photos in the magazine are so beautiful.
Thank you Jen for this feature and all the love and support!
There seems to be some confusion and I just wanted to clear it up for some readers. Yes..this is the same couple that One Love Photo photographed this summer. Erin and Greg also happen to be our good friends who we enjoy collaborating creative ideas with. Erin is an amazing and inspirational person who is an awesome stylist and decorator..so we came up with this fun session..just for fun…nothing else…and they just so happened to be our models. We could never and would never try to replicate One Love Photos amazingly beautiful images that they captured on their wedding day.
Thank you everyone for the feedback!!
Yay Mary! These are so GREAT, and I'm so happy for you to be featured on Green Wedding Shoes! You're such an amazing person and artist, and your work always inspires me! Dicard negative comments, soak in the loveliness of Mary Frances and Floataway Studios!
The cupcakes are yummy and the bride's hairpiece is stunning.Love the photos, my favorite one is the shot of the couple kissing and holding a heart!Simply cute!!!
Thanks everyone for your feedback on these. I know Mary responded to some of your comments, but I also wanted to stress that this is a new service Mary + Scott are offering, so they wanted to set up this session with their good friends to show couples what could be done – and to also provide inspiration to couples! That's what this site is all about – inspiration. :)
Thanks Mary, Scott, and Erin for sharing your work and ideas here! Can't wait to see what else you come up with this year!
Oh wow… loving the photography! Gorgeous.
i love the photos! and the save the dates are a great idea.. erin, mary and scott did such a great job with everything.. i cant wait to see more videos from floataway! :)
xxoo
leila
beautiful shots!
Both videos (and the pictures) are beautiful. I'm wondering if this is practical for everybody, though. My fiancée and I both have older relatives who would be confused and frustrated at being asked to look for something like this online. Were that not the case, I think I could totally talk her into something like this.
Thank you for posting this, Jen!! I love, love Green Wedding Shoes. It was a big source of inspiration for me during the planning of our wedding.
Thank you for the kind words on this shoot! I'm glad Mary + Jen were able to clear up any confusion :] Greg + I had a blast working with Mary + Scott. They are so sweet and oh, so talented! I agree- I think video Save the Dates [and Thank Yous] are going to be big in 2010! XO.
yay, mary, scott and erin! this is a super talented group and a great collaboration. can't wait to see how big floataway studios is going to be!
and thank you videos are a fantabulous idea!
random comment here…. but where are those shoes from?
Groom2Be – you bring up a good point – each couple will know how their guest list will respond to something like this. My grandparents are actually pretty tech savvy – but I know not all grandparents are. One solution to that problem would be that those older guests could get a printed save the date to avoid confusion. Thanks for your comment!
The shoes are Seychelles Reservation for Two in Taupe!
Anyone has an idea where that hairpiece is from. It looks fabulous!
Absolutely love, love, love everything about this! The photos, the couple, Floataway…gorgeous!
I LOVE THIS! I also LOVE that Mary is my wedding photographer for my wedding this coming September. :) I am a lucky girl…
I think this is a great concept, thank you for posting this. I do have a question though: How do you think the introduction of social media into wedding planning will change the wedding industry? Example, the use of video save the dates over the traditional printed cards.
