Intimate Mountain Campground Wedding: Kevin + Kathy – Part 1

Canada mountain wedding

Happy Monday, guys + gals! We’re going to start this week off with a bang thanks to this two part campground wedding feature, captured by the amazing Phil Chester! Kevin + Kathy went camping on one of their first dates (how cool is that?) and it still tops the list as one of their fave things to do together, so tying the knot at Robson Meadows Campground, in the middle of the Canadian woods, felt just right to them. We can’t imagine a more scenic place to say your I Dos (just take a good look at that image above + we think you’ll agree!) and we just love all the sweet ways K + K personalized the gorgeous woodland setting – transforming it from a blank-canvas mountain campground into an awesome wedding venue with a few key details and some help from a few friends. Here’s a bit more about their inspiration from Kathy:

Most importantly, we wanted our wedding to really feel intimate and be a reflection of us. There was no defined theme or wedding colors. I just trusted my instincts and incorporated things I liked. My mom and I spent countless hours loading up on plates, wine goblets and ornaments from thrift shops and antique stores. There were a few wedding blogs I checked regularly for inspiration and ideas (GWS being my favorite, seriously!). We also made good use of the talents of friends and family, and many elements were handmade. The entire wedding was truly a labor of love.

We love their first look photos in front of a giant (and so pretty, might we add) tipi!

And we’re totally girl-crushing on Kathy + her ‘maids right now! Navy maxis, bold lips + bright bouquets must be a winning combo! These ladies are all decked out in Club Monaco, but we pulled together a little round up of our fave indigo-hued dresses – from a few of our go-to stores – for your bridesmaids below:

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Kathy: It had been raining off and on in the morning and just before the ceremony, the sun peaked out from behind the clouds. As I walked down the aisle with my dad, all of my nervousness floated away. I was overcome by such a feeling of love that everyone was there for us. Then seeing Kevin, my best friend, waiting at the end of the aisle for me was just the best. In that instant, I got it. This was it; this was what the day was all about. It was a moment I’ll never forget.

Kevin: Throughout the planning of the wedding and the actual day of, the only time I got nervous was when I saw Kathy walking down the aisle with her Dad. It really shook me; to the point that I had to put my hands on my knees and take a deep breath to prepare for the most important moment of my life. That deep breath helped, but what really settled me down was seeing our dog, Muji, get caught in Kathy’s dress. That little laugh was all I needed to come back down to earth, as it reminded me of the journey that Kathy, myself, and our little rat-dog were about to embark upon.
