You might remember Yeri + Adam from their super cute engagement photos we featured last year. Well, today we have their adorable carnival themed wedding to share with you! Thanks to Yvonne Wong for the photos. :)
From Yeri, Adam + I fell in love while attending the University of Washington in Seattle. As it turns out, we went to the same elementary school in Los Angeles. Apparently it was meant to be. :) We clicked based on our mutual love of punny jokes and offbeat humor. We never take ourselves too seriously and wanted our wedding to reflect the fun and whimsical aspect of our relationship. It was one big party! And the perfect theme to have the guests in a festive mood was with a vintage carnival with pops of coral and turquoise. And with all our vendors being local, it was the quintessential low-key Seattle wedding.
We both have lived in the Greenlake area of Seattle and one of our favorite restaurants was the perfect venue to have a small ceremony and reception. Eva Restaurant is cozy and intimate and we were able to decorate to my heart’s content with homemade garlands and small details from “tears of joy” tissue bundles to happy flags exuberantly declaring “woo hoo!’, “yippee!” and the like.
Adam and I took the DIY to the extreme. I designed + screenprinted our invitations [Yeri owns her own design company – Yeri Yun Designs] to excite our guests for the big party ahead! One important word of advice to brides, please try to delegate as much responsibility as possible! Since we were stringing garlands with the in-laws the night before, shopping for flowers at Pikes Place Market, creating the floral bouquets and boutonnieres, and decorating the venue to the 11th hour, I didn’t get as much time as I would have liked to prepare.
The ceremony was perfect. My brother-in-law, Daniel was our “Joey Tribbiani” and got ordained via the internet and presided over the ceremony. It was amazing to have someone we know and love to share that special moment with us. Our siblings (Adam’s brother and my sister) completed the bridal party. We kept our vows simple and honest, and of course we couldn’t resist adding our own little touches to keep it lighthearted but sincere.
The reception was a blast! The food was delicious, the drinks flowed, and everybody was dancing to the pre-selected iPod mix. And if they weren’t doing one of these three items, there was plenty of laughs to be had at the photo booth. We had props available and wax mustaches in the favor bags. What more could you ask for?
The night went by quickly. Too quickly. But our photographer was able to meet with us the next day for a day after session. We took out our his-and-hers matching vintage cruisers and spent the day riding around. Pure bliss!
What a pretty wedding. I love the bikes!
Such a beautiful couple and what a gorgeous intimate venue. And the post-wedding photo shoot at Discovery looks so fun. Will definitely be stealing ideas for our Seattle wedding:)
This wedding is absolutely the sweetest and so many pin worthy ideas! I adore her shoes and how laid back it was. I am in love with their day after photos!
This is such a cute wedding! I love that cake. And the bride’s shoes. And the bunting. And the invitation suite. And everything.
This is THE most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen. This blows my mind. Who did the photo shoot or plan this event? Every thing is absolutely STUNNING!
Adorable. And especially those polka dot shoes.
How darling! I can’t get over the decorated wedding bikes!!!!
Thanks so much for the feature Jen! It’s great to relive the memories through the wonderful photos. We had a blast!
great tip for next day photos, even if you can have the photographer there on the day for the ceremony and come back the next day for the rest. Definitely have a lot more time to get some great pictures.
LOVE the cute paper drinking straws. We love seeing new ways that couples incorporate these wedding supplies in new unique ways.
