Industrial Speakeasy-Inspired Rehearsal Dinner

Speakeasy Inspiration

When you have guests traveling in from near and far to celebrate your wedding day with you, it’s fun (and gracious) to host a lovely welcome or rehearsal dinner so everyone can get into a festive mood right away. Obviously with all of the work going into the wedding day itself, a foolproof theme for the rehearsal soiree can take a load of stress off your back and that’s exactly why we love today’s feature sent over by Dunlovely Events & Design + photographer, Annmarie Swift.

Colleen of Dunlovely tells us, Rehearsal dinners are an integral part of a wedding weekend. The bride and groom have the opportunity to spend quality time with their wedding party. It also provides them the chance to express gratitude to their nearest and dearest in a unique way. Short Path Distillery, located right outside of Boston, is the perfect spot for an intimate celebration. Short Path distills high quality rum and gin in small batches and offers a unique cocktail experience for guests.

When it came time to think of an overall aesthetic for this editorial shoot, we wanted to add a playful theme to the industrial elements of Short Path’s tasting room and decided to do a prohibition era influenced dinner. This speakeasy feel was carried out throughout various aspects of the décor, such as the use of 1920s phrases on the gorgeous geometric place cards to prohibition terms in the signage all created by the talented Extras By Alaina . To pull in some of the equipment used to distill the products, we used a metallic color palette with a focus primarily on the color, copper. The organic nature of the Short Path spirits were tied in through the use of the eucalyptus table runner and loose flowing florals by the wonderful Beach Plum Floral.

Delicious bite sized cookies from Kitchen Millie were an ode to the easy to eat finger-foods that became popular during prohibition times.
