From the sweet wedding we shared this morning to the bridal shoot below that I styled two years ago (where my main inspiration was a pretty flower crown with anemones + peonies), it’s clear that I’m still pretty head over heels for flower crowns! I realized I haven’t done a fun round up of some of my favorite looks, so I thought it would be helpful inspiration for you lovelies planning right now. :) I just love that they can be made from real flowers, dried flowers or silk flowers. They can look boho chic or glam or whimsical. Some of my favorite looks are below showing all the different ways this fun trend can go! (top photo from this wedding)
All the photos above are from previous features on Green Wedding Shoes. The glam + gold crown is from this feature with headpiece by Jannie Baltzar, the dried flower crown is from this real wedding, the boho bridesmaids are from this wedding, the fern + flower crown is from this woodsy shoot and the bottom two photos are from this inspirational shoot.
Ben Sasso recently sent over the photos below. Love the look of real flowers! These were done by The Conservatorie. If you are interested in real flowers for your wedding day, check with your florists to see if they can create something beautiful for you! So gorgeous!
A few more lovely crowns below from real flowers by Sullivan Owen, photos by Jillian McGrath Photography.
Another cute flower girl photographed by Stone Crandall :)
So, where can you get this look? Well, if you are looking for a crown of real flowers, you can either DIY it yourself or I recommend having your florist create it since it can be a bit tricky depending which type of flowers you are using. And you want to make sure your flowers are alive and pretty when you walk down the aisle!
Another option is to buy (or DIY since we’ll be sharing how later today!) your flower crown. There are so many talented designers out there with their own spin on the trend using either fabric, silk or dried flowers. Some of my faves I recommend checking out for this trend include (starting at the top right): Twigs & Honey, Whichgoose, Mignonne Handmade, Lo Boheme, Ruche, Tessa Kim, The Honeycomb, Untamed Petals
So, I’d love to know – will you be wearing flowers in your hair for your wedding day? And if you are interested in this trend, we have a DIY coming up next for how you can make your own pretty flower crown! Can’t wait to share with you all. :)
i’m so interested in wearing a flower crown for my wedding! my moh says she feels like it may be over the top, but it’s so me and my groom agrees :) so i’m excited for the DIY. thanks for addressing this!
LOVE the colorful, artistic & sophisticated crowns by Sullivan Owen! Who took the photos??
i’ve honestly been wanting to do this for at least 2 years, i’ll be getting married in the next year….call me a hipster but i’m kind of mad that it’s becoming more mainstream.
amazing ideas!!!!!
Love the photos. Very inspirational to see such a selection of styles. I have made several flower crowns for my brides here in New Zealand on Waiheke Island, over the years and I love making them.
I love flower crowns! I wish I was more daring to wear them =)
OMG these flower crowns are to die for! I made a few of my own:

But I definitely don’t have anything similar to the greener/creamier colours you have here. What inspirational pics, can’t wait to make more :D
