Handmade Northern California Wedding: Becky + David

bride and groom

Both Becky + David grew up in Northern California and they wanted their wedding to reflect that nautral beauty they grew up with – along with lots of their own handmade touches. With picturesque rolling hills, the Diablo Ranch in Walnut Creek, California was the perfect setting for their wedding – and some fog even rolled in toward the end of the night which is totally characteristic of Northern California!

Becky + David wanted their own fingerprints on every aspect of the wedding, from the laser-cut invitations to every single flower arrangement to the hand-drawn food labels, and logistics like a mini movie theater and no assigned seating. They loved collaborating together on this very special project. :) Certain details were particularly meaningful; Becky’s father grows grapes and produces his own red wines out of her childhood home, which was served at the wedding with homemade bottle labels, designed by David. Their wedding favors were also homegrown – Becky’s father cultivated baby cacti plants out of the family backyard and gifted each guest with a plant of their choice.

Thanks so much to Jerry + Ingrid with Jerry Yoon Photographers for the photos and congrats to Becky + David!

Our main focus was to host a super fun party where our family and friends could enjoy good simple fresh food, great company, and relax in a beautiful setting with a few quirky animals.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

A few memorable moments of the day stand out to us: saying our traditional vows, hanging out with our friends & family during the reception, and seeing guests laugh when the big ox yelled every once in a while.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Some random things we want to share: Take on the projects that you enjoy doing. Hire vendors that you actually like & want to be friends with! It's okay to get mad at your fiance during the planning process, use the opportunities to work through conflict. Be on the lookout for wedding dresses even in unexpected places. Do things for the wedding because you two actually love them, not just because they are tradition or other people think you should have them. Have lots of fun with it all!
