Handmade California Ranch Wedding: Brittany + Anthony

romantic outdoor wedding

Brittany + Anthony’s romantic wedding, held at Walnut Grove in Moorpark, California, was the perfect balance of rustic elegance + vintage chic! The day was a total DIY affair, and Brittany + Anthony spent many early Saturday mornings together, hunting for eclectic treasures to incorporate into their day. In the end, literally every decor element + piece of furniture included was handpicked + fixed up by the two of them, making their wedding full of personality + a sweet reflection of their unique style. Here’s more about it from Brittany:

The inspiration came from really wanting it to be an extension of ourselves on such a memorable day. I love anything gold, floral or glass and finding an outdoor venue with gorgeous trees was a must. Both of us love simple but elegant- and we kept that vision throughout the planning process. From the very moment we got engaged, the yardsaling, thrift store shopping, designing and budgeting was all done together. I think that really built up the excitement of the day even more to see how it would all come together.

Brittany + Anthony, congratulations on a beautiful celebration + big thanks to Valentina Glidden Photography for sharing these beautiful images of their day with us!

To keep with the vintage vibe of the day, Brittany created all the floral arrangements + bouquets using Balsa wood stems purchased from Save on Crafts + paper flowers purchased from CinnamonWillows on Etsy. Love how it all turned out!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

I have so many moments I wish we could do it all again it was so much fun! We chose not to see each other before the ceremony and I can't even explain the emotion I felt when I saw Anthony at the end of the aisle – and then seeing my little girl off to the left waiting for me, knowing I would soon be his wife and we would unite as a family was amazing, such surreal moment. I really breathed it all in. Also the father daughter dance, I lost it, crying mess the whole time – but it was a moment for my dad and I to say a few words to each other and quickly reminisce (between tears)!

Brittany has a six year old daughter named Jadyn and on the day of the wedding Anthony also became her dad. During the ceremony, Brittany + Anthony read their vows to each other, and then Anthony read his vows to Jadyn, promising to take care of her, and promising to be her daddy. He then put a ring on her little finger! The day wasn’t just about the fact that Brittany + Anthony were becoming husband + wife, but that Brittany, Anthony + Jadyn were becoming a family. So, so sweet!!

Brittany wore a beautiful dried flower halo by The Sunflower Stand, which she paired with a Twigs & Honey veil for the ceremony. Such a pretty look!

And as I’m sure you’ll agree, there were so many sweet details at this wedding, like these darling paper flower guest favors! The pretty signage was designed by Rifle Paper Co.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

You don't need to spend a ton of money on every item. Pick what matters to you and splurge on that – in our case it was the venue and honeymoon and we worked our budget accordingly.

Not to care if you aren't being as traditional as others think you should be. I had some people ask why we weren't using real flowers or why we were making our own desserts. They don't have your vision nor do they need to – it's your wedding day, make it completely what you both want and enjoy the entire process. Ultimately it's not just a wedding – it's about the marriage and your commitment to each other long after the wedding is over. Keep all the planning in perspective, be organized, don't procrastinate and have a blast with it!
