Handmade Australian Wedding: Leah + Tim

bride and groom

Leah + Tim have been together for 11 years, so by the time they decided on getting married, they knew they didn’t want a traditional wedding. Their biggest priority in their wedding was finding a venue where they could make decisions on all aspects: the catering, decorating, and entertainment. It created a lot of additional work for them, but it meant that their day was a real reflection of them and their style. As Leah + Tim stated, “After so many years, if we were going to do it, we were going to do it right! Our other priority was to put on an AMAZING party for our family and friends who had waited such a long time for the occasion.”

Thanks so much to Gemma Clarke Photography for the photos and congrats to Leah + Tim!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our ceremony. We spent a lot of time personalizing our ceremony and writing vows that coveyed how we were feeling and how much we love one another. From the ceremony through to the reception (even on the bus ride home) everyone was smiling and laughing! It was a wonderful feeling knowing that those close to us were at one in celebrating our love - the mood was joyous! The party afterwards was pretty damn memorable too!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Make sure your day is a reflection of the both of you and that you both have input and involvement in planning the wedding. Not having a bridal party allowed us to minimize fuss and focus on what was important to us. It also meant that details were largely a surprise for our guests until the day, which we loved. We had many of our photos together before our ceremony (with the 'reveal' moment just us and the photographer) so we didn't have to leave our guests and miss any of the party. Make lists, lists and more lists!
