Great Depression Era Wedding Inspiration

We love when wedding creatives send over a project inspired by something we’ve rarely or never seen. The team behind today’s editorial – that would be Booth Photographics + Canvas Weddings – decided to whip up a shoot influenced by the natural simplicity of the Great Depression era. And we were excited to see where they would take this concept! With a focus on incorporating repurposed household items – like an old ironing board for the cake table and a dish drainer displaying beautiful, mismatched china – they knew they were working with a time period when these common items might have been the only luxuries available to a couple. So they staged a setting that is oh-so-inspiring based on the notion that brides + grooms of the Great Depression generation could really only have an elaborate wedding by using their imagination. And the fun thing is, we can see today that so many DIY couples decide to go that very same route when it comes to their wedding design, even though they might not have to!

From Stephen + Stephanie of Booth PhotographicsSetting the wedding in an apple orchard lent an earthy but whimsical feel that perfectly tied together the overall aesthetic of our inspiration.
