Glam Garden Party Wedding: Emily + Ed – Part 1

bride and groom

Boy do I have a treat for all you lovelies today! Emily + Ed were recently married and had the most dapper garden party for their wedding – glamorous, classic and a bit reminiscent of a Great Gatsby party. I’m totally in love with their style – especially Emily’s amazing floral crown and lace dress that she made!! And wait until you see her gorgeous bridesmaids dresses and the stylish gents! So utterly glamorous. A bit about their day from Emily:

Ed and my wedding day was full to the brim with love and happiness. At the risk of sounding cheesy it actually was. I remember seeing smiles that went from ear to ear, every guest was dressed up in their most dapper suit and finest frock ready for a garden party like no other. We kept our wedding simple but glamorous. Our guests have sent us endless text messages and cards saying it was a wedding they will never forget. But, to tell you the truth, they were the reason it will be unforgettable. Ed and I always wanted to have a wedding just like Christmas day lunch. Great food, delicious wine and above all wonderful company, it was a bonus that we all got to dress up!!

Thanks so much to Lara Hotz for the gorgeous photos and congrats to Emily + Ed!

My hair is very, very, very, curly!! I didn’t want to wear it out as its hard to control. The only other option was all my curls bunndeled on top of my head. So I asked my florist to create a giant floral headpiece for me to wear. It was over the top and perfect! I keep my bouquet simple as to not clash with my headpiece.

My dress was influenced by a dress from the late 1960’s. The design of the dress is all my own. I wanted to be comletely covered in lace from my neck, to my wrists to the ground so I constructed the dress to show off my figure, giving the dress a sexy hint. I wanted my girls to look as glamorous as me on the day, so their dresses had to be long. I’ve never understood dressing three girls in the same dress, so each girl was not to match. My bridesmaids are such beautiful girls and so individual, I really wanted that to shine out on the day. We choose Rachel Gilbert dresses from Dressed Up

I was shaking like a leaf as I walked down the aisle to Angles by The XX. The whole way through the ceremony I found smiling and holding Ed’s hand the only thing I could manage. I was glad the ceremony was short and sweet. Ed and I wrote our own vows, hearing them for the first time on the day. There were tears, but before long we were married and glasses of champagne were thrust into our hands.

Becoming Ed’s wife. Our vows. The speeches. The smiles on every single persons face as the girls and I walked into the garden. Their smiles went from ear to ear. Seeing my creative vision come to life and seeing everyone having an absolute ball.
