“The majority of men who wear bow ties do so because the majority of men do not.”
Love that quote and that is why I think it is such a perfect time to rock the bow tie – your wedding day – or even engagement photos :) Some of my favorite grooms that made a stylish statement…

So, where can you buy fabulous bow ties? I’ve seen some fun basic bow ties at Urban Outfitters, American Apparel and J Crew. There are lots of great online stores also that have a much broader selection such as Ben Silver, Lumina, Brooks Brothers, and Bowties and More.

Another cool thing about Lumina Clothing is they will work with you to create custom bow ties for your groomsmen! From Lumina, Our ties come in several widths ranging from skinny (2″), to narrow (2.75″), to wide (3.5″) along with two styles of bow ties. We feel that the bride and groom should have the chance to choose from many different fabrics, whether they be silk, cotton, linen, taffeta, etc. We work with the couple to pick out fabric that is unique and matches their personal style, and in many cases exact colors of the bridesmaid dresses. Not only can groomsmen wear their tie or bow tie during the wedding, they can keep it and wear it for future special occasions. How cool is that? And what a great gift for your groomsmen!
Etsy also has some great options. One of my favorite stores is Xoelle. Laura is the creator here and she re-purposes vintage and unwanted fabrics turning them into fresh new bow ties for the modern man.
Oh, and if you do decide to go with bow ties for your wedding – or even engament photos – here is a handy chart to help you tie your tie :)

So, anyone out there planning to rock the bow tie? Did I miss any great places to find them?
My husband wore a tie at our wedding but in general, I much prefer bow ties on guys. They simply cannot be beat!

LOVE bow ties. My groom wore one and still wears bow ties regularly. I pick them up for him at local vintage stores!
I love them! They’re so classic and handsome!
How freaking great is this?! Amazing gathering you’ve got here, my dear!
OMG! Love this post! So great to see guys with style also. Great photo selections!! I think I need to buy my guy a bow tie right now!
I love the simple hairstyles on the women in these shots-that’s exactly what I hope to achieve in my wedding-day-do. : p

a great place to find beautiful bow ties is Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont (www.beautiesltd.com). They have a terrific fabric selection, offer matching cummerbunds & pocket squares, and can even rework your favorite four-in-hand tie into a bow tie.
I’ll admit that I’m a little biased: my mom and stepfather own the company.
Great idea to post the instructions! My husband has no clue where to start. I will now proceed to purchase him a bow tie and make him wear it.
Seigo in NYC has great, reasonably priced neckwear for men. My future husband will be rocking a yellow bow tie from them in a couple weeks. They also have a women’s store (next door to the Madison Ave. location) with great accessories.
I love Bow Ties. My only question is: What colors do you chose? Is the Bow Tie supposed to include the wedding color? Is it supposed to match the Bride’s Shoes? Do you just pick whatever kind you would like? Sorry, I am a bit on the confused side when it comes to this topic.
I’m loving the bow tie look :)
Two more great places to find bow ties online are http://www.bowtie.com and http://www.bowtieclub.com
All the men wore bow ties! I made my Hubs a bow tie and his dad a matching one, and one for my father!

Amazing link for knot tying as tying a bow tie is in fact difficult

I just wore one to work for the first time (was a little self conscious about it) but a woman I spoke to said she liked it. Mine wasn’t too “fun” but a retro green paisly pattern. I wonder if there is a certain shape of bow tie that is popular now, or color.
I don’t normally comment but I gotta state appreciate it for the post on this special one : D.
Fantastic article! I have to share this with our fans on FB! I’ve been wondering where to buy those paper bow ties? Anyone?

my hubby contaced a bowtie maker on Etsy that he worked with to make custom bowties for himself and 5 groomsmen and it only cost a little over $100 She had them completed and shipped to us in Canada from the States in less than 2 weeks!
So many great bow ties!
Men look awesome with them!
