Friday Favors with a Film

letters with moss

Happy Friday lovelies! We had a blast last night at the Scratch Weddings event where we all learned how to Scratch! Thanks so much to all the lovely GWS couples who joined us and to our one lucky couple that won a free DJ from Scratch Weddings for their wedding!! You guys are going to have one rad DJ!! I’ll be sharing more photos + details from the event in the next few weeks also. We are off to WPPI tomorrow and looking forward to meeting + seeing lots of our favorite photographers! For couples that read the site and aren’t in the wedding industry this is the big yearly event for wedding + portrait photographers held in Vegas. It’s a great chance for us all to chat face to face and meet each other in person instead of just emails + twitter. :) And a few fun faves from this week:

• Deborah Griffin of Illustrative Moments creates gorgeous fashion illustrations of you in your wedding dress! What an unique gift, right?

• Totally love this brial portrait captured by GWS Featured Photographer, Jen Huang. Check out more of her gorgeous photos on her blog.

• Adore the way this bride used the LOVE letters in her Chicago wedding photographed by Rejoy Photography

Last month Bella Figura invited me to be one of their wedding trendsetters and I curated a sample pack of my faves from their 2012 collection. My pack includes five favorite letterpress wedding invitations, paper samples, and ink swatches. 100% of the sample pack cost is donated toward an environmental nonprofit also which I just love. You can see my pack – and maybe order :) – it here. You can also see the faves of lots of other top wedding bloggers + designers.

 ————————-————————-    Friday Film    ————————-————————-

Today’s stunning wedding film is from Cabana Pictures. Jeanette was a reader of GWS during her planning and had so many great DIY details she made herself. The ceremony was held in an art gallery, the cocktail hour was in the outdoor garden, and the reception was in the lounge. Jeanette + Finley both love super8 & 16mm film. One of Jeanette’s favorite movies is Love Jones and she really likes the hand-held style. Cabana Pictures wanted to make this wedding timeless without adding any fake film grain effects. The key was to use all the elements provided to them during the day: embracing the sun flares, an Old Historic Hotel from 1926, and the bride’s inspired handmade decorations. And Nina Simone’s version of Feeling Good just tied it all together! Congrats to Jeanette + Finley!!
