English Garden Inspiration

I almost wish we were butterflies and liv’d but three days summer days – three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.” ~ John Keats to Fanny Brawne (1819)

Much has been said about the romantic genius and the beauty of John Keats poetry. He explored the limits of the imagination and celebrated the pleasures of the senses but unfortunately his brilliant career was cut short. Photographer Stephanie Williams and designer Erica Elizabeth both share a fascination with the beauty of Jane Campion’s beautiful film Bright Star based on the three year romance between the 19th century poet and his beloved Fanny Brawne, which was cut short by John Keats tragic early death at the age of 25.

For Spring 2013, Erica Elizabeth wanted to highlight her vintage inspired accessory collections based on the way this film depicted everyday life and a tender relationship, which was restricted by the conventions of the period. The use of nature and its starkness are similar to her choices and use of materials in this collection that have been stripped down to the most simple & pure essentials.
