I’ve definitely been on engagement session love lately! I just love looking at photos of couples in love :) I do have some great weddings lined up for the rest of the week though, but for today, not one, but two engagement sessions by the lovely Sarah Yates. Reader Joycie sent me this first set. I love when I get to see GWS reader’s photos! I love the location and the timeless beauty of the photos Sarah captured. From Joycie:
Steve and I wanted to keep things simple. We were interested in taking photos outdoors – some place with trees and greenery. I was born and raised in Los Angeles (the eastside) and Griffith Park has a special place in my heart. My dad would often take me there as a kid, the prep school I attended is basically next door to the west end of the park, and it has many lesser-known Los Angeles landmarks: a bear statue from Germany, the Griffith Observatory, Merry Go Round, LA Zoo, to name a few. You look at the photos and it’s hard to believe that’s LA, but it’s the LA that I know and love.
We didn’t want anything too conceptual (although those are definitely beautiful and fun to look at). We just wanted to let our personalities come through. Having played in bands for many years, Steve is at ease in front of a camera/audience. I, on the other hand, get a shy when having my picture taken. Sarah really fostered a comfortable environment and was great at getting us to feel comfortable with different settings/poses, etc. I told Sarah, before our shoot, that making each other laugh is a favorite past time of ours. Sarah was really great in letting us joke around and have our little banter. As a result, we feel like a lot of the best photos were taken when we were just having fun and laughing. I agree! How cute is this photo below?!
Love the tights also! And hard to believe that is LA … Thanks so much Joycie + Steve for sharing your photos with us! Check back later today for another gorgeous engagement session by Sarah!
Wow. Would have never guessed this was in LA. Love the one of them on the ledge.
This is the L.A. that I know and love, too (east side represents!). Griffith Park is such a treasure, and these photos are gorgeous!
I love what Joycie wrote. They are a couple who is so full of love and laughter, it's fantastic to be sharing that with the world! Thanks so much for posting these Jen! XOXO
love all the photos posted…i was a bridesmaid a few weekends back and documented the whole thing with my dinky little canon power shot…still though it was fun trying to emulate the photographers showcased on your site!
