I just love their sweet story on how they got engaged as told by Jessica! :)

Michael and I met our first day of class at Azusa Pacific University in January of 2006. We developed a very close friendship in college and after five years of being just friends, we started dating the summer of 2011 and have never looked back.

Michael moved to Orange in 2011, so we had spent our entire ‘dating relationship’ going out in Downtown Orange. The area holds special meaning to us, and so many memories. I was getting back from a work trip, when Michael surprised me with dinner at Gabby’s – our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Circle. He brought a special bottle of wine we had been saving from a trip to Seattle earlier that year (which Jessica didn’t realize until later – I thought he was just being smart and saving some money, haha) and we enjoyed a romantic dinner.

It was a beautiful night, so Michael suggested we “get some fresh air” (who says that! I thought ‘that was weird’ haha) before we left. So we walked around, talking about different memories we had as we passed certain places, and laughing at our stories. We ended up sitting on a bench in the middle of the Circle watching the water fountain and lights. He handed me a card (and I love love cards!). He wrote about how much he loved me, how I was his best friend, and he couldn’t wait for our future together. I thanked him for the sweet note, gave him a kiss, and said what a perfect date night it had been. (I really thought he was just being extra romantic since we hadn’t gone out in awhile). We stood up to leave when he grabbed my hand, and pulled me under an Orange tree. He was holding me, and gave me a kiss (and I’m thinking- ‘what’s going on?’..) He then got down on one knee, and I quickly put it all together! I was so shocked and excited, I barely heard what he was saying. I quickly said yes, and we had a wonderful moment celebrating in the middle of Downtown Orange under that Orange tree. We took quite a long road to get here, but we couldn’t be more excited to truly be marrying our best friend.
