When Katie + Jake began to plan their Summer San Juan Island wedding, they knew they wanted a neutral palette that felt whimsical, classy, elegant, organic. They also wanted a ‘wow’ factor with their design, but aimed to make sure it was not too pretentious or over the top. By teaming up with the design crew at Sinclair & Moore they were able to ensure the beauty + balance they were after would come to life seamlessly. The outcome was a new take on the whimsy and sophistication of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and we think you’re about to find yourself pretty inspired!
Katie tells us, We had four days of events that made it feel more like summer camp than a wedding with things like Mexican food night and karaoke, boating, hikes, volleyball, and sunset drinks and s’mores around a bonfire. All this allowed our guests to relax and get on “island time”, as well as it gave us the opportunity to have many great conversations and memories that usually are more rushed during the business of the wedding day.
We love that idea, don’t you?!! Let’s see the main event, K + J’s beautiful wedding, captured gorgeously by Ryan Flynn!
Katie wore an effortless Claire Pettibone dress from The Dress Theory paired with shoes by Badgley Mischka + jewelry from BHLDN.
The bridesmaids wore mismatched pale blue dresses by Joanna August, Adrianna Papell, and Jenny Yoo. So pretty!
We are pretty obsessed with our dog, Hudson, and no way were we getting married without our boy. Hudson came in to our lives pretty early on in our relationship so having him there was without question. He’s been a true blessing to us. He walked down the aisle with one of the groomsmen and sat in the front smiling at us the way only your dog can as we finally became an official family.
Processional: Skinny Love – Bon Iver
Recessional: Simple Song – The Shins
First Dance: Girl From North Country – Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash
Katie describes the reception setting as Organic and whimsical with lots of greenery, yet still very inviting. And we can’t think of a more perfect way of putting it! So gorgeous.
This stunning cake display by The Sweet Side is pretty unreal!!
We tried to always keep in mind what our wedding would be remembered as five, ten, twenty years down the road. Fashion and styles come and go, so thinking what is timeless definitely helped us piece together the look and feel we wanted.

That flower arch over the lunch table is GORGEOUS! Along with the cake and the rest of the desert table. Just wow!
Thanks for the sweet words on the dessert table! It was a labor of love!
Sinclair and Moore REALLY hit the floral and design out of the park on this one!
