Eclectic Santa Margarita Ranch Wedding: Sheila + Nathaniel

Santa Margarita Ranch Wedding

Sheila + Nathaniel’s gorgeous Santa Margarita Ranch wedding proves that it is, indeed, possible to fuse modern + eclectic details with a rustic, natural location + vibe. Metallic bridesmaid dresses, whimsical gold pineapples decorating the tables, and an overall eclectic tone somehow fit seamlessly into the classic barn setting. Since we’re always big fans of juxtaposing styles, let’s hear more about how they did it, making the setting a fun reflection of the two of them:

It was important for us to pick things that we liked and made us happy – that was our theme. Choosing Santa Margarita Ranch afforded us the unique opportunity to plan and design our wedding on a blank canvas. We both have creative backgrounds, so we would come home with ideas for different to-do items. Our one rule was no one idea or theme would overshadow another. Everything was meant to compliment us, our beautiful surroundings, AND make us smile.

Thanks a bunch to Katie Shuler Photography for the pretty photos and congrats to S + N on a lovely day!

Would you believe us if we told you Sheila found her Carmen Marc Valvo dress on Ebay? It’s not a place we’d have thought to look, but pretty genius, right?! We’re absolutely loving it – and the bridesmaids’ gold Adrianna Papell dresses as well!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Nathaniel: Walking into our reception and being introduced as husband and wife.

Sheila: We chose not to see each other before the ceremony so after the I do's and group shots, Nathaniel and I walked up this hill to take photos with this beautiful tree. It was memorable for many reasons (1.) The nerves were settled (2.) we got to see how each other's mornings went and really chat (3.) I could really take in how handsome my husband is, (4.)I love holding Nathaniel's hand-it was going down in a major way, and (5.)the nature we were surrounded by was breathtaking.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

1. HAVE FUN and don't stress too much!!
2. We planned our California wedding from our home in Brooklyn. Just know it can be done with some patience, a LOT of research, and teamwork.
- Pick 3 or 4 wedding details that are most important to you two then compromise on the rest, if you have too. This day is so special for your loved ones too. Their opinions may affect some decision making.
- Have designated no wedding talk days and/or date nights - if anyone offers help take them up on it and ask for help if you need it.
- Enjoy and take in the whole process because this love celebration goes by way too fast.
