Eclectic Garden Party Wedding: Erin + Greg

bride and groom

Erin + Greg reside in NYC, but all of Erin’s family live in Sydney. Globally, California was a middle ground, so it seemed like the perfect place for them to host their wedding! When they found Beltane Ranch in Glen Ellen, they knew they’d struck gold. It served as a home base for all of the guests who had traveled in from so far to be there + provided a breathtaking backdrop for a beautiful garden party style celebration. Their day was filled with a lot of love and some truly gorgeous + inventive details. Two of my personal faves? The hand-dyed indigo placemats and that incredible, winding reception table, reminiscent of a huge Thanksgiving table! Wait until you see it :) Here’s more from Greg about the inspiration behind the day:

We have an aversion to stuffiness but still wanted our wedding to feel like a wedding. Being outdoors the whole time made the most sense for us. It ended up being the perfect mix of big Italian dinner and garden party. The nature of the place brought together our friends and family perfectly. We wanted to create a moments that always felt comfortable and magical.

Big thanks to Delbarr Moradi for the stunning photography + to Sitting in a Tree for the super fun event design. And Erin + Greg, congratulations + thanks for sharing your day with us!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The ceremony was an emotional whiteout. It was amazing. We asked our friends to play guitar for us as we walked down the aisle. That felt really natural. We hadn't seen each other until that moment. That was intense and wonderful. We also decided to take our vows very seriously. If you don't, it's just another party. It felt right to make those big promises in front of everyone we loved.

The long winding table was such a unique touch and really created a cozy + festive setting for Erin + Greg’s 100 guests. I seriously love it!

And Brown Paper Design totally nailed it with the floral design! Erin + Greg wanted to incorporate a strong jewel-tone color palette and an earthy, bohemian vibe, so blooms in varying shades of red, pink + fuchsia were housed in vintage  brass + wood vessels. Hostess Haven‘s playful napkins + glassware completed the look in such a fun way!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Know the order - first you need your venue, hotels and dates to make the invite, and then start thinking about music, food, flowers, color of napkins, everything else. Google drive, Pintrest and email chains are your tools of trade - use shared documents to get everyone on the same page. Don't remake decisions you've already made - the more you rethink things, the more annoyed everyone gets. A wedding planner is cheaper than a marriage counselor - our planner helped us find so many amazing people/vendors and helped with the tiebreakers. Ask for help from your friends and family - give them little things that make your life easier and include them in the process. Make a list of what's most important to you - unless you have unlimited money you're gonna have to compromise on a few things, and that's totally ok. That said... fight for what you really want - often "no" is the first answer not the final one. And expect your husband to help - there's nothing lamer than someone who doesn't care about their own wedding.
