Dreamy Ocean Engagement Photos

Anguilla engagement

I’m sure you’re all going to be ready for a dreamy beach vacay after seeing Lisa + Adrian’s gorgeous Anguilla engagement photos captured by the incredibly talented KT Merry! NYC natives, Lisa + Adrian traveled to the British West Indies this past Spring for both their engagement session and to tie the knot several days later, at the Viceroy Anguilla, in front of 35 of their favorite people. The simplicity + beauty of the beach setting in these photos is so captivating + you can truly feel the love between these two!

You won’t want to miss their ultra-romantic love/proposal story, dating back to when they were just teenagers on a family vacation(!), at the end of the post. So, so sweet! Congratulations Lisa + Adrian — we wish you all the best!

Now for the proposal story…

Adrian and I met when we were teenagers on a vacation with our families in the Caribbean. From the moment we met we knew that there was a deep connection between us but we lived on opposite coasts, Adrian is from California and I am from Pennsylvania. We both agreed that we were way too young to experience this type of connection. We stayed in touch and would visit each other over the years. Our friendship grew into love and we knew we wanted to be together. Adrian decided to attend college in NYC, where I was also attending college. We started dating and the rest is history. We always discussed getting married but we both felt we needed to focus on our careers and always felt too young. This kind of love only comes around once in a lifetime and neither of us ever took that for granted. Adrian had asked my father to marry me years before he proposed.

In the summer of 2011 we went on an amazing trip to Italy for my birthday. The day of my birthday Adrian had a romantic day planned and chartered a gozzo to explore Capri’s beautiful coastline and grottos. When the skipper took us under the faraglioni rocks in Capri, which one is shaped like a wishbone, we both made a wish and it was a magical moment for us. We laughed and I joked that all that was missing was a proposal. When we arrived home we were both going on-and-on that we needed to make a picture album of our trip to Italy, which was so special to both of us. We never got around to it and as time went on I forgot about it. Adrian and I love Christmas. Its our favorite holiday and we love the buzz in the air during the holidays. On December 23, 2011 Adrian came home and said there was a stocking stuffer I should open. I didn’t find this to be weird since we can’t keep gifts a secret and we typically open cute little gifts a few days before Christmas from all the excitement. I opened it and was so shocked that it was a picture book of our trip to Italy. I was so surprised that he had made the book without me knowing and I was crying tears of joy remembering the times we shared there as a soaked-in each picture. I got to a page in the middle of the book and there was a love poem. It was beautiful. Then on the following page it was THE picture of us in Capri under the faraglioni rocks with the caption, “Lisa, will you take my hand and marry me?” I was so surprised, which I have to say, is saying a lot since I am one of the hardest people to surprise. He got down on one knee and gave me a gorgeous ring that he designed. That was the icing on the cake. I was so happy that Adrian proposed in our home because it felt so intimate and we were able to say what we wanted to say to each other without anyone else around. If he would have done anything else I would have figured it out. It was a special, magical moment that we both will never forget and keep in our hearts.
