DIY Rustic Camping Wedding: Debbie + Anthony

Wales UK Camp Wedding

Debbie has always kind of had a thing for weddings. She started a wedding blog years before she got engaged, finding herself in love with the romance of a wedding and inspired by the creative, personal touches that make every couple’s day unique.

She tells us, When “the one” proposed as well as being over the moon that I’d get to spend the rest of my life with a wonderful man, I was also stupidly excited about how many craft projects I’d get to embark on, and I embarked on a lot!

We think so many fellow DIYers can relate and that this pretty celebration will definitely inspire other crafty brides + couples who hope to infuse their personalities into their wedding day. Let’s see more in the images below by Taylor Roades, which tell Debbie + Anthony’s story just perfectly…

I started with designing what you could call a wedding logo. My name means ‘bee’ and with my future husband being called Anthony, or ‘Ant’ for short, I decided it could be cute to include these two insects – it worked well with the natural setting we’d picked for our big day too. This logo was then used across the stationery, the camping kits I made to put in guests’ bell tents (their accommodation for our weekend wedding), the enamel mugs we gave them as souvenirs, and was even etched on to our guest book.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

There were so many amazing moments but it was more the general feeling of the day that I will remember... Family and friends spending many hours decorating the venue, so many guests entering our baking competition, our photographer flying such a long way to capture our wedding, a friend playing the piano as I walked down the aisle, a bridesmaid with a bin bag helping clear away plates, our awesome best man who made sure everything was running smoothly so we didn’t have to worry about a thing, and most of the decorations having been dismantled and packed away before we even woke up. So many people helped make that day incredible and easy for us. I knew I’d feel loved by my husband on our wedding day but I had no idea we’d feel so loved by our guests too.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Elope! Just kidding My advice would be to get the big things booked as soon as possible (venue, food, photographer etc.) and then you can spend the rest of the time doing all the pretty bits. It’s much less stressful knowing that you have the essentials sorted and the rest, although lovely looking, you could do without if you had to due to time or budget constraints.

I’d actually also advise getting glow sticks! We didn’t invest in a band as we couldn’t find one that would play the music we really wanted, so instead we went for an iPod playlist featuring different genres of music so there was something for everyone. Our evening entertainment therefore was a couple of boxes of glow sticks that we brought out when the 90s Dance tunes came on, and our guests loved them! It’s nice to know that you don’t need to spend a ton of money for people to have a good time.
