Ashley Beyer of Tinge Floral and photographer, D’Arcy Benincosa are both amazing wedding creatives based in Utah, who can often be found traveling the world together for weddings, events + personal projects.
They love creating new trends in bridal fashion, so for their latest project they teamed up to conceptualize a shoot to inspire brides to take a more simple approach to the traditional floral crown. We’re in love with the results + think you will be too…
D’arcy tells us, Coco Channel said that “simplicity is the keynote of elegance”. Each year the bridal trends shift and change, last year lent itself to large floral crowns that were huge statement pieces, and while these were lovely, 2015 is lending itself to simplicity. With these little DIY floral crowns, you can add touches of living, fragrant elegance to your wedding gown without spending hundreds of dollars on more extravagant head decor.
To make this romantic floral crown:
1. Select a small delicate bloom that would fall beautifully in the hair. Ashley of Tinge Floral chose muscari because she was envisioning the look of mini wisteria vine hanging in the hair.
2. Select a thread that resembles the bride’s hair. For this shoot, they chose black since the model’s hair was so dark.
3. Thread the blooms as many or as few as you’d like. Ashley strung two different threads with different lengths.
4. Tie a bobby pin on each end of the thread and secure. Et voila!

Ashley + D’Arcy share, Something to note is that these florals might get a bit withered during the day, so before the reception, make sure to have a fresh (and maybe a whole new look) floral crown waiting for you and ready to be worn on the dance floor.

I’ve been debating what I should have my bridesmaids do with their hair for my July 2016 wedding. After seeing this and thinking about all of the beautiful wildflowers that grow here in the Adirondacks, I think that this may be what they will do.
