I’m excited to introduce you all to Michelle Edgemont! Michelle is based in Brooklyn, New York and creates one-of-a-kind design concepts, styling and flowers for weddings + parties. She is joining the GWS team as one of our DIY contributors and I’m excited to see what great DIY concepts she will bring to GWS this coming year. :)
Her first DIY is seriously the cutest – individual hot cocoa’s in funky flavors! Perfect for wedding favors, party favors – or even Christmas gifts! And the best part? They are so easy to make! Win Win. Thanks so much Michelle!
What You’ll Need:
• Clear glass vials with cork lids (we bought ours here)
• White Cardstock
• Scissors
• Basic Hot cocoa mix
• Edible Lavender (you can find here)
• Dried Orange Peel
• Chopped Cinnamon Sticks
• Chopped Dark Chocolate
• Teaspoon
• Hole Punch
• Gift Tags Printable File (download ours here) or create your own tags
You’ll find the hardest part of the DIY is gathering all the materials. :) Once you have them the favors are easy to make!
Step 1: Fill your glass vials ¾ of the way with the hot cocoa mix.
Step 2: Fill the rest of the vial with the flavor ingredient of your choice. Here I used dried orange peel, lavender, chopped cinnamon sticks, and chopped dark chocolate to create interesting flavors. Mountain Rose Herbs is a great resource for bulk dried herbs and flavorings.
Step 3: Print out the printable gift tags, cut them out, and punch a hole in each. Tie each onto it’s coordinating flavor of hot cocoa with a gold thread. Push in the cork. All done!
To drink, mix the whole vial with 1 cup of steaming hot milk. Top with whipped cream and enjoy.
And remember, if you make one of our DIY projects, we’d love to see how it turned out so be sure to share with us on Instagram using the hashtag #GreenWeddingShoesDIY.
