You may recognize these pretty book planters from this wedding I shared this morning. Wednesday was sweet enough to share the DIY for them with us too! They are super easy to make and last long after the wedding – both which I love. :)
Materials needed:
• vintage books (you can find these super cheap at thrift stores or your local library)
• succulents and succulent planting soil
• moss (purchased at Michael’s)
• an exacto knife
• modgepodge
• fabric flowers (easy DIY to make these found here)
• cling wrap
To create the planters:
1. Draw a rectangle the size you want the planter to be to serve as the cutting guide.
2. Use an exacto knife to hollow out a 1-2 inch deep space where the plant will be. Then seal that with the modgepodge.
3. To further protect the book, place a layer of cling wrap in the space and sprinkle a layer of succulent potting soil. Plant your succulents along with moss and fabric flowers and you’re done!

:-D YAY!
Oh my God, you have no idea how happy this makes me. I am going with a literary theme for my wedding and I definitely wanted to incorporate succulents in my centerpieces so this is just so amazing for me to find. Thanks so much for sharing!

Great Idea! Love the way it looks!
These are such a sweet idea! Love it!
As much as I like the idea, but I don’t think I can do this because I am an actual bookworm. I am afraid to hurt books even if they are totally old. Nice idea though.
I completely agree with you. I love the idea and look, but I also love books, especially the old ones. It hurts my heart to think of hurting a book. Maybe one thats already messed up tho.
Love the book theme of these centerpieces…i just have to get over feeling bad for the books!
This is brilliant and adorable! I so love succulents and finding new ways to incorporate them into wedding floral designs is so exciting. Brilliant idea here!

Hi! I was just wondering how you would water these if it’s in a book? Like would it drain out into the book pages?
