Cozy Date Night In: Maddie + Keaton

Today’s engagement session is for a sweet couple from Seattle, Maddie + Keaton, who are madly in love + excited for the future. They’re beautiful souls and selflessly opened their lives to be documented by Jasmine Star– and thousands of photographers. Yep, this engagement session happened while cameras rolled live and broadcasted on the internet. It was all part of an online stream for creativeLIVE and lead by Jasmine Star. Jenn Elliott Blake styled the shoot to create a comfortable environment and make them feel at home.

Inspiration for the shoot began with the desire to create a scene reflective of the quintessential American couple. I was immediately inspired to create a scenario reflective of a “Date Night IN”. I envisioned the couple spending a night at home: celebrating & enjoying each others company, being cozy and lazy on the couch in front of a movie, sipping on warm cocoa, eating sweet treats, playing board games and listening to their favorite music. Jasmine paired with creativeLIVE to stream the shoot for free online while she photographed the engagement session and walked viewers through photographic education. The goal, however, was to make the couple comfortable and enjoy their engagement session. I really wanted to vibe of the shoot to reflect all of those feelings that come while being home: blissful, lazy, relaxed, comfortable, casual and safe – home is that place where you are just yourself. I wanted the shoot to be reflective of the ease that comes from spending time with the one you love in the comforts of your own space just the two of you.
