Country Chic LA Wedding: Amy + Kevin

bride and groom

Amy + Kevin are both from rural Louisiana but now live in LA so they decided the perfect wedding theme for them would be country chic. Focus mostly on the party with a short ceremony that was uniquely them and then an unforgettable celebration. My kind of couple! :) Another fun element of their wedding was the theme “A Deal’s A Deal” which was reinforced during their ceremony (be sure to read Amy’s vows she shared – really lovely!) and with fun temporary tattoos each guest received – love that idea! They hired some of the best out there with their wedding planners Paige and Kelly from Bash, Please along with photography by Anne Anne McElwain. Big congrats to Amy + Kevin!

From Amy: We are both very strong independent people with very separate professional lives (working television actor and pediatric heart surgeon). We have separate hobbies – golf and horseback riding – but we make each other better when we are together. We support each other and revel in each other’s victories/accomplishments. Our ceremony was spiritual but not religious and embraced the idea of “together yet a part”. Also, we each wrote vows, mine are below:

I can’t predict the future and I don’t have all the answers but I know that my life continues to get better and better each passing day that I spend with you. Our lives are hectic; each day we go our separate ways, both of us trying to make a difference in the lives of those around us. Some days we succeed and other days we fail. But at the end of the day, regardless of the outcome, we’re there for each other. You shelter me, give me strength and encouragement; you believe in me even when I’ve lost faith in myself but you’re never afraid to kick me in the ass when I need it. You hold a mirror up to my soul and show me the person a want to become. So…. For better or worse, you’re stuck with me. A deal’s a deal.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Very hard to choose!!!! Probably the most unique was the “ceremonial passing of the balls”. Yes, it is what you’re thinking. The morning of the wedding, my soon to be husband was walking around the hotel room greeting himself, as men tend to do in the morning for some reasons and I asked him what he was doing. His response, “saying goodbye since I have to give them up today”. To that I responded, “that’s going in the ceremony!” and he happily agreed. We immediately called friends to find figurative balls and added the “ceremonial passing of the balls” to the ceremony. Our family/friends looooved it!

Food is key – we used Heirloom LA and Oh. My. God!!! Awesome! I have never seen people swarm servers like they did at our wedding! Also, karaoke is superb at a wedding.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Start brainstorming early and delay making final plans for a bit. Good ideas take time. Be flexible, changes can be great, even last minute ones like our “ceremonial passing of the balls”.
