Nicole + Jon didn’t just want your typical wedding – they wanted a low-key weekend getaway for their friends + family. Once that idea was set, they based all of their planning decisions off of the notion of simply having a good time. Everything from their poster-sized invite (designed by Jon!) to the giant balloons, colorful tassels, and the hand-planted centerpieces, were all a fun reflection of the things they love. And the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs was the perfect spot for everyone to relax + enjoy, not only just the wedding celebration, but a memorable weekend together! Wedding weekends for the win, right? Such a great idea if your situation allows!
Thanks so much to Angela Marklew of Fstop Inertia for the lovely photos + big congrats to Nicole + Jon!
As a graphic design fan, I’m pretty obsessed with all the design details Jon designed for the day – especially their poster invite which he created in 3 colors (gold, blue + red). So rad, right?! Wait until you see the reception space…
Processional: Pachelbel's Canon in D
Recessional: All you Need is Love – The Beatles
First Dance: Your Love is Forever – Band of Horses (George Harrison Cover)
The most memorable moment took me by surprise – our officiant added a short and beautiful Apache blessing into our ceremony and it really tied the whole thing together. After focusing so much on the reception and planning, I'd almost forgotten that the ceremony is the whole point and is the most special part of the evening. She thought that the blessing would fit with our low key and intimate vibe, and she was spot on.
The reception space had just the right amount of retro flair + worked in details to represent the couple’s shared loved of music. Oh, and did you see those super fun YES tote bags? Big YES to those!
There are a few things that I feel we did right – hire a coordinator. Hire a good one that you get good vibes from. I interviewed like 8 planners until I found the one I clicked best with. It's worth every penny and then some to wake up on your wedding day and not have one single logistical thing to take care of! All I had to do was pop the champagne. Next, pick a few things that are important to you to splurge on and save on everything else. It's one day. It's an important day, yes, but it's one day. Honestly, there's nothing I wish I'd spent more or less on. Lastly, know that it will go by faster than you can imagine and it's such a shame because you'll want to relive it over and over again. But I guess that's the sign of a fun wedding!

Well isn’t this the most fun wedding we’ve seen!
Love the colors, and also all the sharp textures…great job!
Love, love, love this! And yes, as a graphic designer it doesn’t get much better. Not over done, done just right.
Very elegant, clean design.
Thank you so much for the feature! What a sweet couple to work with- their photos ooze love and joy. Such a fun day!
They hit all my spots: lamas, bags, couch, dress, cheeky irreverence, balloons, succulents, dog. Everything but marshmallows!
Freaking awesome! Hell yes every wedding should be this fun :D
