Colorful DIY Wedding: Ariana + Cody

bride and groom

When Ariana + Cody first got engaged they started planning a traditional + formal wedding, but then quickly decided that wasn’t them at all. So they planned a much more “them” wedding full of all the things they loved! A bit about their day from Ariana:

We decided that we wanted our wedding day to be a fun, loving celebration. A huge inspiration for our wedding was the movie Amélie and the TV show Pushing Daisies by Bryan Fuller. If you haven’t seen the show, watch it. It’s incredibly beautiful, artistic, funny, quirky – an all around awesome show. We also are both huge comic book nerds, and wanted them incorporated in anyway we could. All of this meant we were going to have a bright, colorful and fun wedding – exactly what we wanted!

I love that they also incorporated some fun surprises into their day for their guests – including incorporating the infamous wedding scene from The Princess Bride into their ceremony! :) Big congrats to Ariana + Cody and thanks so much to Ashley Rose for the photos!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Cody: Watching my amazing bride walk down the aisle towards me, and just trying to keep it together. Being overwhelmed by all the love that's in that moment.

Ariana: Walking down the aisle toward the most wonderful man in the world, I was completely overwhelmed not only by my love for him, but by the love of our friends and family. When I looked out into the seats where our friends and family were sitting, I saw the faces of loved ones and was so in awe from the love that I felt from them. It was such a surreal moment. The love I felt that day, not just for Cody, but from everyone there, was so incredible.

We wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without the support of our amazing friends and family, who donated their time and talents to make our wedding an incredible and beautiful event.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

It's so easy to get caught up in the details. As someone who made nearly everything for the wedding, I know this all too well. Everyone says it, and will continue to say it to you as you're planning your wedding, but it all goes by so fast. My best advice: be yourself. Make decisions that reflect you and your significant other. On the day of your wedding, just soak it all in, and whatever happens (because stuff will inevitably go wrong), just enjoy the day – a total love fest for you as a couple, surrounded by those you love most in the world.
