Pink, gold + black is a wedding palette that will seriously never fail! And Joanna + Colin’s handmade Florida brewery wedding is definitely further proof of that notion. Loving their creative use of these super fun hues! Add giant balloons (like these!), a chic-looking bridal party, and pretty florals to the mix, and you have the recipe for a day that’s brimming with charm + beauty. Let’s hear more about it from the bride:
We wanted our wedding to be a laid-back celebration with our closest family and friends – not a formal affair. Most importantly, we wanted it to feel like “us”, which meant getting rid of a lot of traditions that we didn’t find meaningful and planning the day with an open mind. Instead of a formal dinner we brought in our favorite food truck to serve our guests, and had a cotton candy machine and dessert table instead of a traditional wedding cake. Since we wanted to keep the wedding small (with a small budget), we did everything ourselves instead of hiring a planner or coordinator and our friends and family played a huge role in our wedding, too.
Thanks so much to Brooke Images for the gorgeous photography + big congrats to Joanna + Colin!
Such pretty wedding hair, right? We’re pinning that one!
Joanna wore a crisp, classic gown from Mori Lee, which she paired with the raddest gold metal belt! And love that her ladies all wore black cocktail dresses that showed off their individual personalities!
Oh, and did you see we just added a bunch of new bridesmaid dresses to the GWS shop? Pop over + have a look!
Processional: Intro – The XX
Recessional: Home – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
First Dance: The Only One – Black Keys
Our friend Lindsay performed our wedding ceremony, and right before pronouncing us husband and wife she asked us to do one more thing- to look into each other's eyes and think about the happiness we felt at that moment, surrounded by our friends and family-to take a few seconds and really let that feeling register in our hearts and minds. It was a moment of pure joy and anticipation and I’m glad we stopped to let it sink in, because the rest of the day went by so fast!
Colin’s mom put together the bouquets + arrangements! We’d say these two are pretty darn lucky to have that kind of talent in the fam!
Don't be afraid to stray from tradition and do what feels right for you as a couple. And don’t compromise when it comes to hiring a photographer-even if your budget is small, find one that you love and cut costs in other areas!

Beautiful wedding Joanna! I love all the fun details and AMAZING styling! Question for you – I’ve been searching for a metal belt just like yours. I have only found ones with chains in the back which look a little funky with my dress. Where did you find yours?
Mine had a chain in the back when I bought it, but I was able to remove it and fasten it with just the gold clip at the end of the chain. I got lucky that it fit perfectly!
Awesome, thank you! I think if I buy mine in a larger size I’ll be able to do the same thing. Congratulations and thanks for the tip!
Hi Joanna,
What a beautiful wedding. You have been my inspiration throughout this process; I have vowed to stay true to myself and my groom and do what makes us happy. Thank you for your advice :)
Question: I am getting married in Ormond, do you still have the gold centerpieces/candle holders? Are you interested in selling?
I too am looking for a metal belt and can’t seem to find anything…can you point us in the right direction and let us know where you found it. Congrats, looks like an amazing wedding!
I am LOVING the gold accents found throughout this wedding day! And what a cool Florida wedding venue. Such a beautiful wedding & reception – Thank you for sharing! xo
would love to know where they got those dresses.. I am looking for something like that in white just fun and causal since I am planning a laid back small wedding on a beach location. any suggestions?
Are the groomsmen’s suits their own, or did they rent them (or buy them from a certain place)? They look very sharp, and I’d love a better resource for the men in our wedding party.
Oh wow! Each and every detail is just beautiful. Adore the precious pooches, beautiful blooms and the bridesmaids necklaces. Joanna looks incredible in the gown with the gold belt and who doesn’t love pockets on a wedding gown? Stunning!
