Minimal Bohemian Beach Elopement Inspiration

minimal boho elopement

One of the best aspects of eloping is the freedom to just do your thing. And if you’ve been dreaming of a minimal bohemian seaside celebration, it just might look a little something like this! For today’s styled shoot, Tina from Loveridge Photography, Taylor from A Wild Poppy, and the ladies of Twiggs Floral Studio worked together to create a setting that would complement, rather than over power, their gorgeous beach surroundings. And who could blame them? With that stunning rocky shoreline backdrop, less definitely was more. We hope any of you who are considering a boho elopement at the beach will find yourselves inspired by this one! Here’s a little bit of backstory from Tina:

Taylor and I originally got together to just shoot a look-book for her growing line of weddings dresses in her vintage store, “A Wild Poppy.” After talking about how we are inspired by a seemingly growing trend of intimate and thoughtful gatherings for weddings, we decided to keep the inspiration going and create a wedding at one of our all-time favorite locations, Montana de Oro, California…

The idea of a sweet post-ceremony picnic in the sand sounds pretty perfect to us. And how rad is that driftwood + cinderblock table? Would make for a fun DIY coffee table, too!

Coney Island Engagement Session: Thea + Rachit

Coney Island Engagement

Happy Friday, friends! We couldn’t think of a better way to roll into the weekend than with this super fun Coney Island engagement shoot, captured by Amber Gress! The bride-to-be, Thea, is the talented lady behind the ultra lovely bridal accessory line Hushed Commotion, so we weren’t really surprised to see that she + her fiancé, Rachit, have some pretty spot-on style. Thea is rockin’ that decorated halo braid, bright fuschia lip + fun striped frock like nobody’s business. Right?! Such a fun match for the festive surroundings. Why don’t we hear a bit about how she + Rachit met before getting right to all the photo goodness:

Rachit and I have a somewhat fun “how we met” story – it all started on Twitter. Both of us are from NC, but we met in NYC. A mutual friend of ours “announced” Rachit on Twitter when we moved up to NYC and I decided to hit the FOLLOW button. As time went by we noticed we had a lot in common, especially when it came to food and adventures each one of us embarked on around NYC. After about 3 months of banter back and forth on Twitter, I asking him out on a food “friend date”. We had a blast. Two and a half weeks, and 5 dates later it was pretty obvious that we were both really excited about this. Rachit had planned a long trip home to NC for three weeks that month, so we parted ways but kept in touch. The day he got back, we arranged another food adventure in Bushwick and the rest is history: 4 and a half years later we are still taking adventures and still obviously really excited (and in love!) with each other.

When I planned our engagement afternoon, I wanted it to feel like an extension of ourselves. We often take day trips outside of NY or to out of the way parts of the 5 boroughs, so when a friend of Ambers had a super sweet Thunderbird we could borrow – it all became clear. Rachit loves cars and I love anything vintage.

Thea + Rachit enjoyed champagne + cookies during the shoot. Shouldn’t all e-sessions include such delish luxuries? We think so!

Downtown Salt Lake City Engagement Session: Taylor + Chad

Salt Lake City engagement

Hey guys, meet Taylor + Chad! These two cuties met on a blind date (love hearing a BD success story!) and decided on an intimate + simple setting for their engagement photos with Tyson French. Their sweet session started with some shots in their stylish apartment in downtown Salt Lake City. Then, the trio moved on to Jessica Peterson’s super rad photo studio where the blank canvas of a backdrop really allowed the focus to be on these two and their love for each other! Let’s hear a little more detail about how T + C met, shall we?

My dearest fiancé and I met on a blind date! I had no hope in blind dates because I had been on a few before and they didn’t turn out spectacularly. Chad was different. We went on a hike to a waterfall (which we never found) and we talked for hours. He left the next day to work in St. Thomas for the entire summer (which ripped my heart out) but we talked the whole summer and when he got back, the rest was history! We were inseparable…

Two years later he proposed to me at our favorite pizza restaurant. He seemed nervous and strange all throughout the dinner but I didn’t think much of it. As we left the restaurant we started walking down the bright streets of Salt Lake City and he turned me around, got down on his shaking knee, mumbled something romantic and sweet and asked me to be his wife. I will always remember that moment and I can’t wait to continue our adventure in life together.

Super big congrats you two! :)
