Kerianne + Mat’s wedding was loaded with charm and the sweetest farmer’s market-inspired aesthetic. No detail of their day was overlooked (thanks to the team at Kismet & Clover!) and the laid-back vibe of this cute + quirky Canadian duo came across in just about every design facet. The K & C gals point out the fish hook table numbers, rusted tins, moss and rugged oyster shells, vintage inspired lobster stand and custom-made fisherman’s card suitcase as their personal fave design elements of the celebration. And below, Kerianne shares a bit of why they included these details into their day:
Mat loves Canada’s eastern coast. Although he grew up in landlocked Calgary, his Nova Scotian parents instilled in him a respect for the culture from day one. I, however, am a prairie girl, raised with horses and barn cats and a love for dilapidated wagon wheels and the Alberta countryside. We wanted to throw a great party that reflected our connection to both places—in essence, we wanted to bring Nova Scotia to Calgary for a wild, meaningful, one-night ceilidh.
Big thanks to Natalie of Heart + Sparrow Photography for capturing the spirt of K + M’s day and sharing it with us this morning!
Such a pretty first look spot…
The backdrop for this wedding is one of the sweetest we’ve seen! Jessica of Kismet & Clover tell us, The quaint, little Saskatoon Farm is known for its mouth watering saskatoon berry baked pies and jams, but also doubles as a greenhouse and farmers market in the summer.
We love, love the wedding party’s retro-inspired look! Shop for similar pieces for your friends to wear in our fun, bridal party guide below:
Processional: Falling Slowly – Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova
Recessional: Care For You – Michael Bernard Fitzgerald
First Dance: The Luckiest – Ben Folds
Guests enjoyed a lobster broil for dinner + a quirky “lobster eating guide” donned each place setting.
There were so many beautiful and hilarious moments from the day that we’ll cherish forever. One memory we love is seeing the dance floor filled with our friends and family—Mat’s aunts doing the Irish jig, our little niece playing the spoons, our friends thrashing about inappropriately to Celtic music.
Mat’s dad handed out shots of Newfoundland Screech, which is this terrible rum with 40% alcohol that could likely remove the paint from your fingernails, but everyone took it back like it was water, and danced on their merry way.

The best decisions we made were investing money in a wedding designer and an amazing photographer. Hands down! I had oodles of disjointed ideas in my mind of how I wanted things to look and feel—Kismet & Clover took hold of those ideas, built on them, and made beautiful things happen. Natalie (our photographer) captured all that beauty for us to cherish forever. We are so grateful.
