There’s a pretty good chance you’ll recognize the lovely lady from today’s anniversary session feature – or at the very least you may recognize her work! Jenna Kutcher is an amazing photographer + calligrapher based in the US Midwest who pretty much has talent coming out of her ears :) Because she makes a career out of capturing special memories for other couples + families, she and her husband Drew made a pact when they first got married that they would take the time to be photographed each + every year, even if it felt like not much had changed. We’re so happy that they have kept good on their word + we’re so excited to share their gorgeous anniversary photos, captured by Cassie Rosch at Camp Wandawega on GWS today!
Jenna tells us, The truth is we cherish each year of photos because things have changed. We went from our first apartment together to a home, we adopted two unruly rescue pups, the cornfield behind our home became a new school, we moved again and we had fallen more in love with one another (cheesy, I know.) Marriage deserves to be celebrated. I see so many of my brides get married, invest in photography, and then let years pass before they are in front of a camera again. They forget that they are growing, changing, evolving, and that even if they aren’t in their white dress, their marriage is just as (if not more) important as the day they wed.
Seriously, this backdrop is such a dream! The perfect place to capture J + D’s silly, raw, love-filled marriage!
Our marriage isn’t perfect. I don’t share these images in the hopes that you think we float around in floral rowboats everyday or so you will comment #goals, I post them because the world needs to remember how sacred and special marriage is. The celebrating shouldn’t stop after the wedding, the focus of preserving moments shouldn’t end, the priority of documenting your lives shouldnt change. Each and every year we do one shoot together, just one. We rarely take selfies, we don’t have a photographer follow us around on our lives, and when we go out, I always forget to take a picture. This one session a year proves that marriage is worth celebrating (each and every tiny milestone and victory.) I don’t do it to put us on blast, so much of our lives and marriage is sacred and private, I just truly believe the worlds needs a postitive image of marriage after the wedding day.
