Byron Bay Australia Wedding: Amy + Miles

Byron Bay Wedding

When Amy + Miles began planning their wedding, they did everything they could to make sure the day was a complete representation of the things they love and are passionate about: mainly music, food and lots of fun. Amy has experience in the wedding scene, so her background + knowledge drove some of the important decisions for the day. 1) NO flowers (more on that in just a sec) 2) infuse music into the day in a creative way and 3) well, we’ll just let Amy share more below…

I am a creative events producer so I had a pretty clear vision about what I wanted for our wedding from the start. Luckily Myles and I were totally on the same page so it was a united front from the beginning. We didn’t want the wedding to feel too “eventy”. We wanted to put on a great party and for us a great party all comes down to the atmosphere, the vibe, the people and creating an ‘experience’.

Thanks so much to John Benavente Photography for the insanely pretty photos and congrats to Amy + Miles on an amazing day!

I was really adamant that I 100% did not want a single flower at the wedding. I have seen it time and time again so I wanted to do something a little different. This is where the rainforest theme came into play and it grew from there. We wanted the whole wedding to be submersed in a rainforest vibe that was cool, calm and cozy. This paired with the right lighting made for a really wicked look and feel! The team at Beautiflora really nailed our brief.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

I think it's hard to pin it down to one moment. The whole day was completely epic but I guess if we had to say choose one memorable moment it would obviously be the ceremony. It was pretty special, nothing has ever felt more right.

This might be a mega statement, but we think Amy’s dress (from Berta Bridal) is in our top 10 all time favorites! The lace detailing is totally outrageous.

Music is a big part of our lives in so many ways and we really wanted it to be a key element of the celebration throughout. Whilst the music selection not only set the tone it provided a level of sentimentality that was honest and heartfelt. A large portion of the songs (particularly those performed by the band later on) were intrinsically linked to certain times, places and memories of our lives together in some way as well. In hindsight this also allowed for our personalities as a couple to shine through. We thought it would be pretty special to have a live band play at the wedding. Endless searching online meant we spent a long time looking to find a band that was right for us. We found a 7 piece out of Brisbane, Australia who were seriously amazing and were one of the highlights of the wedding for us.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Weddings are so personal so in terms of nailing the right look and feel for you that is something you have to decide as everybody wants different things. If you are struggling to nail the exact brief I think Pinterest is a really good starting point. You can create lots of little mood boards and spend hours trawling through images and saving all the ones you like. Then you can go back to the mood boards and start stripping back from there. It really helps to narrow down exactly what you want!

In regards to planning your wedding my advice is know what you want first. Spend time researching and understanding what your expectations are because it makes it so much easier for all the suppliers you will be dealing with when you know what you want. The clearer the brief the easier it is for them to execute.
