Boho Wedding Inspiration at Diablo Lake: Aly + Zach

Diablo Lake Inspiration

There’s something about the Pacific Northwest that just draws us in (we’re guessing that’s the case for you, too!). All the photos we’ve seen seem to be bathed in a golden light, with turquoise hues all around. The verdant trees grow abundantly on the rolling mountains, which are often speckled with snow. Everything about it is so darn dreamy, and it comes as no surprise that it’s this photographer’s favorite place! Jonathan Gipaya fell head over heels for the North Cascade area of Washington and knew he wanted to craft the most beautiful bohemian styled shoot, inspired by the area.

Teaming up with florists Michael + Bobbie of Bahtoh, a warm and rich color palette that incorporated tones of the bride and groom’s surroundings was born. Enter in Aly + Zach – the duo met through a graphic design program in college… Aly spent a summer interning in Edmonds, Washington – where Zach grew up and he became her personal tour guide. Aly shares After I finished my internship, Zach had me over to his house where he surprised me with a homemade drive in movie theatre, complete with all of my favorite snacks, AND a ton of flowers in the bed of his truck! That was the night he asked me to be his girlfriend, and the night of our first kiss.

Well their story doesn’t end there – they tied the knot last year!! Now that you know the adorable details, let’s dive into these BEAUTIFUL photos!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

The best advice we could give to couples who are engaged would be to make choices in your engagement that best suit your relationship and who you are as a couple. It's not about the Pinterest perfect setting or venue, what flowers are in bloom during a certain month, about how many people will attend or what everyone else is saying you should do. Talk to each other and find out what is important to the both of you and go for it. Enjoy this time because it goes by quickly and don't forget to make time for each other amongst the craziness and busy schedules that come with it.

Aly + Zach share: The biggest thing we have learned in our first year of marriage is to love each other deeply. What that means to us isn’t just saying ‘I love you’, but comes with understanding love is so much more than that. Communicate when you are feeling sad, mad, happy, excited or anything in between. Be patient with each other’s faults and build each other up when things get tough. Think about how you can change when something goes wrong instead of thinking about how the other person should be doing something differently. Enjoy each other, make time for each other and be the best of friends. We are certainly no experts after one year but we are excited about what we have learned and can’t wait to continue to grow in our marriage!
