Bohemian Backyard Wedding in Milwaukee: Rea + Danny

milwaukee wedding

For Rea + Danny, who met two years ago, it was as close to love at first sight as it gets. For us, well, we have to say we were definitely feeling that same LAFS feeling when we saw photos from their gorgeous backyard wedding in Milwaukee! These two like to keep things simple and decided on a minimal, Kinfolk-inspired theme for their day. Their motto for the design was ‘the more earth tones, the better’ and the feeling of organic romance they were able to achieve is just about as good as it gets. Rea shares more about it all with us below:

Daniel and I wanted our wedding to be very US, we didn’t want a cliché wedding, which led us to a Kinfolky-inspired boho wedding, I got the idea of the hanging florals from a Kinfolk dinner event that I had seen pictures of. We also had a local (second year start-up business) florist provide the florals for our wedding. The two girls that started Flower & Bee have similar style to me so it was such a perfect and easy fit. I was specific with a few things but really just told them to do as they pleased. It was AWESOME!

Thanks so much to Jessica Stoe Photography & Design for the beautiful imagery + big congrats to the newlyweds on an amazing day!

Inspired by a wedding she saw here on GWS, Rea and her best friend crafted the ribbon backdrop for the ceremony.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The most memorable moment of our wedding was probably when I walked down the aisle to Daniel. The music, the moment, and the people—everything was just so overwhelming and precious to me. Walking down the aisle with my dad towards the man of my wildest dreams was just so incredible. I will never forget that moment; it was so special and filled with so many emotions. (And yes, I sobbed like a freakin’ child).

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Make the day about YOU—when planning a wedding you will likely get a lot of unsolicited opinions from both family + friends. It’s totally okay to consider these opinions, but in the end don’t make decisions solely on what other people want or think, you’ll be glad you made your own choices…trust me. Secondly, I know some people say it’s bad luck, but don’t wait to see your husband until you walk down the aisle. Long before Daniel and I were engaged, we had already decided to spend as much of our wedding day together as possible. After all, your wedding day is supposed to be one of the most memorable days of your life, so why not enjoy the day together? For us, that meant starting the day together with a hot cup of coffee and some relaxation before the craziness of the day would unfold. After that, we parted ways to convene with our bridesmaids and groomsmen, and then met up again after getting ready for a special reveal between the two of us. I highly recommend doing this—it’s really a special moment that’s just for you and your soon-to-be husband. And it makes for some beautiful pre wedding pictures (before you’re a hot mess).
