You just might recognize Maggie + Zach from their incredible Big Bend National Park engagement session we shared earlier this year. Clayton Austin captured that moment in time for them with such beauty + perfection, that it was pretty much a given for them to invite him back to capture their intimate elopement in the woods of Aspen. Every ounce of their bohemian-influenced, simple celebration was just so good. Maggie wore the loveliest Grace Loves Lace dress, her bridesmaids wore complementing Free People frocks, and the minimal florals + decor helped the idyllic setting take on the most magical celebratory feeling. Let’s hear a bit more from Maggie about their inspiration for the day:
It had just felt right when we finally decided to go back out to Colorado to get married, which is also where we got engaged! Our main goal was to keep things as free flowing and light-hearted as possible that weekend. The other big part of our wedding was road-tripping in Zach’s VW bus (along with our two pups) from Austin to Aspen. It really was the coolest way to start our wedding week together! Through it all we tried to keep a good balance of an elopement feel and small wedding. We didn’t even know exactly where we were getting married until the morning of when Clayton found this beautiful nature preserve at the base of the mountains. We loved the spontaneity of it. We had a sweet short ceremony and then a fun brunch reception and toast outside the bus that Clayton had set up for us. After that, everyone went on to a wine festival that was going on in town. It was exactly what we had wanted, everything turned out just as it was meant to.
Loving that wooden Greetings from Colorado postcard!
Doesn’t that dress look like it was made just for Maggie?! And her wild, boho bouquet by Harrington Smith fit right in with her look for the day!
Standing out in the open field with Zach right before the ceremony, we were surrounded by gorgeous mountains and blue skies every way you looked..we had our amazing family and friends around us and the band playing some great songs. It really was pretty surreal..
We’re sure so many of you are coveting the gorgeous boho look of this wedding, so we pulled together the key elements for you below:
Try not to let anybody or anything stress you out, it's not worth the time or energy..take a step back and always look at the big picture. What is most important to you? It really is all about the two of you being happy and living in the moment. Plus at the end of the day when it's all said and done you want to be able to look back and know you enjoyed the ride..
And if you are considering a destination wedding or small elopement.. totally do it, no regrets!
