Barn Dinner From The Love & Splendor Workshop

Dinner at the Barn

Angel from Love & Splendor is one of the sweetest wedding creatives around, so we LOVE supporting her, her budding business and her amazing workshops. For her second workshop, she chose stunning Greengate Ranch and Vineyard in San Luis Obispo, California as the backdrop, and hosted a gorgeous alfresco farewell dinner in front of the venue’s barn for attendees (including GWS’ Jen, Jason + Sienna)!

Angel shares, The Love & Splendor Workshop is such a treasured event for me because it is an opportunity to share my passion with the next generation of wedding planners and designers. My goal is to pour into them with all of my knowledge and my heart, and that means spoiling them with unforgettable experiences.

Thanks so much to the amazing Braedon Flynn for capturing these beautiful photos!

The signature barn, constructed with reclaimed wood, was the perfect place to stage a long communal table and a cozy lounge vignette with pieces from Found Vintage Rentals.

Instead of going inside the barn, I opted to design our dining experience al fresco, taking advantage of the temperate and crisp California autumn evening My initial inspiration was the gingko tree. While there are none on property at Greengate, gingko trees are my favorite and always remind me of a special trip I took to Tokyo. Using the gingko’s golden leaves as a reference point, I collaborated with Asha of Wilder Floral Co. to design a warm, luxurious tabletop layered in shades of ochre, amber and gold, lush with texture and visual interest. La Tavola’s embroidered linens in a soft butter yellow served as the perfect base for our design.

Casa de Perrin brought in the loveliest Anna Weatherly china edged in 24K gold, and charming amber and milk glass goblets. I love that our napkin rings from Theoni Collection really tied things together, in an antique gold style that looked like leaves. Their beautiful glass votives also added warmth and a bit of sparkle. Found Vintage Rentals provided bentwood chairs, bridging the rustic barn backdrop with our refined tabletop. Found also created the coziest vignettes with furniture upholstered in mustard velvet and cream linen, perfectly styled with patterned pillows and throws. Asha’s arrangements were overflowing with texture including garden roses, dahlias, and my favorite amber-hued cymbidium orchids. Potted ferns added a fresh accent.

We just love the die-cut gingko placecards by Jen Aitchison with calligraphy by Anne Robin, too!

Field to Table Events catered a delicious dinner using fresh, local and organic ingredients. Attendees dined on inventive eats, like a compressed beet and goat cheese salad, risotto with king crab and prawns, duck confit with grilled figs and fresh grilled halibut and tenderloin – all served family style.
