An Indian Wedding in Chicago: Seema + Joe

city wedding

This morning we are off to Chicago for a gorgeous Indian wedding with stunning photos by Pen Carlson and an amazing video of the day by SharkPig! They actually had two major events – an Indian music and henna party the day before the wedding, and the ceremony + reception the following day. I’m sharing photos from the wedding + ceremony today which included lots of hand-crafted details by the couple and their vendors. Seema shared that most of the inspiration for the day came from art (painting, sewing, crafting, culinary arts + music). The wedding even took place in a gallery + art school where Seema used to take pottery classes and her teacher made their ring plates! I also love that they created their own ceremony + had Seema’s cousin as their officiant. The reception included a great indie rock band who learned a bunch of their favorite Indian songs for the occasion. :) Big congrats to Seema + Joe!

I love their rock poster style screen print that they made to serve as a seating chart + guest list. It’s now framed in their apartment to remember the day.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our ceremony turned out to be really special. We created the ceremony to include elements both our families’ cultural and religious beliefs – Catholic, Hindu, and Sikh. We wrote our own vows and sharing them with Joe in front of all out loved ones was really great
