An Elopement under the Brooklyn Bridge

Kortney sent me some photos from her elopement this past weekend and they were too sweet not to share!

From Kortney, We rode our bikes to the Brooklyn Bridge Park and had a secret ceremony under the shade of a willow tree. Each of our friends were given a camera.. a Polaroid 690, a Yashica T4 super, and a digital, but the best photos were taken on the Yashica by our semi-professional photographer friend Jonty Hampson. My dress was off-the-rack from Zara (of all places) and my something blue was my grandmother’s aquamarine ring from her time living in Brazil. The suit worn by my husband Jason was from Club Monaco, the tie belonged to his father, and tie clip belonged to my grandfather. Our bouquet and boutonniere were from Sarah at Saipua in Red Hook – she is amazing! She used peonies, majorica spray roses and pincushions with lamb’s ear from her mother’s yard. The pincushions were a lovely addition, considering I work in wardrobe for film and our last name is now Shurte. The signs were homemade. Also, we used Lone Star and Old Style beer cans for our getaway bikes, as we are originally from Texas and Chicago.
