An Elopement at Yosemite National Park: Kristin + Cody

yosemite elopement

Kristin + Cody decided to elope soon after getting engaged. They really wanted their wedding day to be simple and relaxed – a day where they could focus entirely on each other and the commitment they were making. They chose Yosemite because of its astounding natural beauty (if you haven’t been before, just wait until you see the photos!) and its significance to Cody, who spent his summers in college working and living in the valley. Love that they even went rock climbing together the morning of the wedding! Congrats to Kristin + Cody on your wedding day and big thanks to Carl Zoch for the photos. Oh, and if you are thinking of eloping, Kristin shares some great advice about eloping at the end of the feature. :)

The entire day was truly memorable, from start to finish. My favorite memory is standing on the ledge at Tunnel View shortly after our ceremony, taking in this incredible view of the valley for the first time. I suspect Cody's favorite memory was slacklining at Camp 4 in his suit.

First and foremost, if you're considering an elopement, do it. Your friends and family will understand, even if there is some hesitation at first. Throw a send-off party. We did, the weekend before we left. It was so fun to spend time with family and friends in the excitement leading up to our trip.

Plan ahead. It might seem counterintuitive for an elopement, but an easy and relaxing wedding day requires planning, especially if you are getting married out of town.

Invest in photography. This is always important, but especially so with an elopement, to share your experience with loved ones. We were lucky to work with Carl Zoch, an amazingly talented photographer who shares our love and appreciation for the outdoors.
