An Elopement at the Ice Caves: Steph + Mitch

Steph + Mitch knew early on that they didn’t want a traditional wedding. Instead, they wanted a day that was sure to be focused on the commitment they were making to each other, in a setting that captured their adventurous, nature-loving spirits. They decided to elope along the trails of Big Four Ice Caves in Snohomish, Washington with just their parents in attendance. In the end, they were able to create a day that was just right for them + a big inspiration to other couples who are considering an elopement! Here’s a bit more from Steph:

We love being outdoors and initially thought about doing a pretty intense hike and getting married at the top of it, in our hiking clothes. Then a friend told us about Nick and Laura’s elopement on Green Wedding Shoes! After we saw their photos, we knew that was what we wanted! We could still have an adventurous wedding, but look good while doing it! We’d like to say thank you to GWS for your inspiration and helping us find Benj Haisch, our amazing photographer! It was a relief to have a photographer that was just as excited to go on a hike as we were.

So happy to hear that another beautiful elopement we shared inspired this lovely couple to do their own thing to. :) Congrats to Steph + Mitch!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

We agree that for both of us, the most memorable moment was reading our vows to each other. I loved that it was a surprise, not knowing what Mitch was going to say. And we were in an insanely beautiful setting with mountains all around and the sun shining. It was a perfect moment. Another memorable moment was a Ranger telling us that our random Thursday morning wedding in the mountains would be accompanied by 60 elementary school kids on a field trip! On our way back down from our private ceremony, we received a round of applause from the kids and their chaperons.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

The beauty of eloping is that you have the flexibility to move at your own pace, making changes along the way. You can have a Wednesday wedding or get married at midnight. You can make your ceremony as unique as you want. So our advice is to not get stressed, because you are the only guests! You can never plan it as perfect as it is going to be. Another tip is to explain to your family and friends why eloping is important to you. And have a great photographer!
